Drawing Lineart |
|
|
1.I admit it I'm a serial doodler XD!
Nearly all my oekaki pics start out life as a pencil doodle
on various scraps of paper. When I do one that I like, I draw
a frame around it to get an idea of the dimentions that I'll
need for the canvas. |
|
|
2.Open up a PaintBBS window and adjust
the canvas size. Make sure your happy with the dimentions
before you start, you don't want to risk losing you picture
by adjusting the settings later.
|
|
|
3.Start on the LayerBG. Select black solid
lines at 1px and start to draw the guide sketch. I tend to
be very messy at this point, some people may find it easier
later to have a cleaner guide sketch than the one I use. |
| |
4.Once your happy with the sketch, change
to Remask and select a light colour from the palette. Using
solid at 30px colour over the entire sketch, this should now
give you a lighter guide lines. This makes it slightly eaiser
for the next part. Change the masking option back to Normal.
Another method is to use the WhiteRec set to a low opacity
(about 150) to fade the lines. |

|
5.I'm a fan of watercolour lines though solid lineart can
looks just as good (sometimes better ^_^). Select LayerFG
and black watercolor at 1 or 2px. For watercolour lines
you will need to go over the lines several times in order
to get a nice bold lineart (this is where solid lineart
is much easier)
I tend now to use the default opacity settings but I have
used 245 and 250 in order to spend less time going over
those lines.
It may be because I have some sort of obsessive-compulsive
problem, but I spend a LOT of time cleaning lineart. I use
the eraser tool at 245 opacity to get clean tapered lines,
with solid lineart you would use the eraser at 255.

7.Now the lineart is finished, go to layerBG,
choose White Rec and select the entire canvas. The guide lines
are now gone and you should be left with the lineart on the
top layer. Make any further adjustments and now we're ready
to get to my favourite part, colouring ^__^ |
