Paint BBS Tutorial
This is the all too familiar PaintBBS interface. The functions on each button along the side can be changed by clicking them. Here's a very quick overview of the functions,
1.Solid3 functions
Solid - draws solid lines
Watercolor - draws watercolour lines
Text -creates text box. Type text and press enter to place onto canvas.
2.Halftone4 functions
halftone - creates half-tone effect with opacity controlled by opacity slider.
Blur - intensity controlled by pixel slider
Light - brightening tool (like dodge tool) intensity controlled by opacity slider
Dark - darkening tool (burn tool)intensity controlled by opacity slider
3.Rect4 functions
Creates solid or line rectangles and oval shapes
4.Copy4 functions
copy -copies area selected and move to differnt location of canvas
layerunite -used to combine an area of colouring on the two layers onto a single layer
AntiAlias -blurs selected area on both layers
Flip Horiz-flips selected area horizontally
Flip Vert-flips selected area vertically
Rotate-Rotates selected area 90degrees
5.White3 functions
White-Eraser tool used like the drawing tool, intensity determined by opacity slider
White Rec-Erases selected area, intensity controlled by opacity slider
Clear-completely clears the canvas
6.Freeline3 functions
Freeline-allows freeform drawing
Line-draws in straight lines
Belsizer-draws smooth lines by determining two connecting points
7.Normal5 functions
Normal-default mode where one colour will colour another
Mask-will exclude chosen colour, useful for keeping solid lineart and colouring
Remask-will only colour over chosen colour
And-excludes shades darker than chosen colour
Div-excludes shades lighter than chosen colour
8.Colour Palette
14 different colour blocks that you can create the colours you will work with
9.RGB slider
Creates colour by adjusting the red, green and blue levels
10.Opacity slider
Determines the opacity of the lines/eraser. 255 being completely opaque and lower numbers are more transparent.
11.Pixel slider
Determines the size of the brush ranges from 1 to 30px in size.
12.Layers
PaintBBS uses only 2 layers, so it has it's not as flexible as OekakiBBS that allows you to have many more. Generally lineart is on the foreground layer(layerFG/layer1) and colouring on the background layer (layerBG/layer0)
13.Zoom out
14.Zoom in
15.Redo
16.Undo
17.Fill
fills layer with selected colour
18.Send
Submits the picture to oekaki board and will then take you to the comments page to add title and comments.
