Final Fantasy Fan Fiction Part 1 Part I Date – 17/9/2674 Time – 1:39am It was a quiet night in Midgar. The only sound they could hear was the sound of their own breathing. The first person, a large man with had a tattoo on his left arm, spoke first. His voice was deep but he tried to keep as quiet as possible. “When they come out, we blow the place up OK”. The second person just remained quiet. This seemed to infuriate the first man. “Speak god damn it! We’re about to make history and all you can do is keep silent? Think about it, if we blow up the towers and there’s no evidence it was us, we can live like kings”. Still the second man remained silent. Suddenly the quiet streets filled with the yelling of a woman. “Now!” came the shouting. Within seconds all that could be heard were the screams of terror and a deafening explosion. A few seconds later, 2 out of the 4 main towers that had once held up the headquarters of Condor Enterprises, were no more than rubble. The group of three that had blown these towers up were heading towards Kalm Town, with the large man carrying an extremely heavy-looking package. They finally got to the town at 2:26am and the town was as if no one had lived there for centuries. The buildings were broken down and had holes in places they shouldn’t have, grass was growing in the cracks of the pavement and the fountain had stopped working because the water supply had been cut off. The group found a house to stop in and unload the package. The woman began to speak. “ So Barret, I see your explosion went off well”. The large man replied “With no thanks to him”. He nodded towards the corner. The smaller man was sitting there deep in thought. Barret started to speak again but thought better of it. He knew what Cloud was capable of. An eerie silence followed. Finally this silence was broken by the smaller man’s first words. “So, who we meeting?” His voice was soft and it sounded as if he was almost ghost-like. The woman said “A man named Irvine”. “Wasn’t he was imprisoned for grand theft auto?” The reply that he would have got never came. A humungous crashing sound was heard and bits of roof came flying from above. A man in a long, light caramel coloured coat came through the hole. He looked around at the 3 people, each one of them looking as shocked as the next. “Ah, you must be Tifa. I’m Irvine and I’ve come to escort you to Costa del Sol. So have you got the crystal?” “Yes but have you got the money? Don’t forget the deal. We wanted 300,000 gil for this job. We risked our lives so you better have the money.” “Don’t worry about the money I just want to see the crystal” Barret uncovered the crystal. It was a bright emerald colour and it glistened in the night sky. Irvine’s eyes lit up. He opened his mouth to say something. The sound that came out of his mouth wasn’t speaking at all. It was a low growl. Cloud, Barret and Tifa stare at Irvine at the same time. Moment’s later Irvine seems back to normal. “What the hell was that?” Came the surprised sound from Barret’s voice. “What was what?” “That… That sound” “Err… I don’t want to talk about it. Now shall I help you take that crystal? His voice was a bit shaky but the group just ignored it. The journey to Costa del Sol was a long and tiring one. They fought many battles along the way but when they finally made it there, and when the group found the hotel they just collapsed on the beds. A buzzing sound then filled the room and they drifted into a deep sleep… Part II Squall was woken by the sound of the morning birds. He got up and looked out the window to find that the normal view of neat and tidy grass had been replaced with a vast desert. He blinked and rubbed his eyes but the desert just stayed there. He went downstairs to find Rinoa but she was gone too. The only thing he found was a note saying ‘To find the one you love, you must embark on a perilous journey across that desert to a town called Fisherman’s Horizon”. Squall didn’t know what to do, so he decided to go and see Zell. Zell, living as he did with his mum, was at first grumpy at being woken up by Squall but after a while he became friendly. “So, does anyone know where Irvine is? I’ve been trying to contact him but I get no answer”. “I’ve sent him on a mission to retrieve the famous Chaos Emerald”. “You mean the one that’s only supposed to be a legend?” “The very same” replied Squall. “Man, well how’s Rinoa?” Just as Zell finished his sentence, the door came crashing into the room. An extremely large man was standing in the doorway. He was about 6ft 11” and it was impossible to see past him. Just by looking at him, Squall and Zell that the man wasn’t too bright. “I’ve got a message for a Mr Squall Lionheart. Oh and sorry about the door”. “That would be me” Answered Squall. After he finished reading it, Squall looked up from the note. His face was a mask of horror. Zell saw Squall’s face and asked him “What’s wrong?” “Someone’s kidnapped Rinoa and the only way to get her back they now want the Emerald”. “Why would they want that?” Shaking his head, Squall replied “I don’t know… I just don’t know” Squall lifted his head just in time to see the messenger leave. After what had just happened, he didn’t feel in the mood to call after him. After a message had been sent round to Selphie and Quistis, the group of them sat round to discuss their plan of action. The only thing that Selphie could talk about was how beautiful the Emerald would look on herself. “We need to give the Emerald to the kidnapper. If you don’t we wont know how Rinoa is” said Quistis. She had used her ‘do it now or I wont forgive you’ voice. Squall just sat there deep in thought. When he finally did speak he said, “ I’m going”. This came as a shock to everyone. Everybody who was sitting down jumped up and Zell, who had been punching the air, froze. “We’re coming with you. Man, I can’t believe the whole groups getting back together again”. “You guys”. They left a note for Irvine to read and all four of them started on their journey to find Fisherman’s Horizon. Little did they know that a bigger and more terrible journey awaited them… Part III 12 years after defeating Kuja and then Necron, Zidane found himself walking through the streets of Alexandria with Vivi. “Do you remember the day we meet, Vivi?” “Yes… I saw you and Steiner fighting on the ship just after the play”. “Everyone was fighting to stop Kuja, weren’t they? But then the deciding battle with Necron”. “I wonder what everyone is doing now”. Zidane thought for a moment then said “Why don’t we go and find out?” “Please, that would be nice”. They both set off for the castle but neither of them spoke again on the way there. It took 20 minutes to get to the throne room where Queen Garnet sat on her throne. In the chair next to her sat Reno, her husband. Her 2 trustworthy knights, Steiner and Beartrix were guarding her with their life. Garnet’s jester, Rude, was entertaining the royal couple that day when a royal guard came in and announced Zidane and Vivi’s arrival. “Let them in, good knight” “Yes, Your Majesty” He disappeared for a couple of minutes but returned with Zidane followed closely by Vivi. All Vivi could do was stare around at the magnificent decorations hanging from the ceiling. When the pair got to the bottom of the stairs in front of the Queen, they both bowed courteously. “How have you been Zidane?” came the soft voice of Garnet. “Very well my lady. And you?” “Not bad. I’m glad you came because I was just about to send for you” “You were?” “Yes. Have you heard of the Avalanche Ring” “Yes ma’am” “Well, it has gone missing from Treno and we would like someone to go and find it for us. I will, of course, go with you but Steiner has to come as well” “Old Rusty? Well I suppose he can come too then” “Watch how you speak to me you … you thief” “I will look after your kingdom while you are away, my dear,” said Reno. Zidane, Vivi, Garnet and Steiner set off for Treno to find some clues to the whereabouts of the ring. On the way there however, they met an old beggar dressed in completely black. He asked for some money but when he saw whom he’d asked, the beggar’s face changed. “What is wrong man? Come on, one minute you’re asking the Queen for some money the next you’re hushed up” “You are Queen Garnet of Alexandria are you not? “You are correct good sir, but why the long face?” “On your journey for the Avalanche Ring, you will be faced with many hardships including betrayal, suffering and even death!” Steiner let out an almighty laugh and cried “You stupid fool, nothing will happen to the Queen while I protect her” “You may think that now, but in a few weeks time things will be different. Only you can make your destiny”. With that the old man vanished into thin air. The group continued along the winding path without much talking, each of them was thinking about what the old man had said. When they finally got to Treno they found that a group of five men were fighting each other in the square. Zidane was about to ask what was going on but he got pulled into the middle of the fighting. He read a sign that was hanging on the side of a wall. It read ‘To the victor of this battle can get my daughter’s hand in marriage, Signed The Mayor’. Zidane had only just finished reading the sign when a sword was thrust in his direction and he narrowly escaped. He thought not about winning but just trying to stay alive. Swords were being thrust this way and that until only 2 people remained, Zidane and a man named Cid Squirrel. A raging duel followed. Zidane was lucky to stay alive, as Cid was an expert swordsman. Just as Zidane was getting used to the fight though, Cid knocked him off balance and Zidane fell to the ground. Cid raised his sword to finish Zidane off then brought it down as hard as he could. Zidane felt a sharp sensation and then the world around him slowly drifted away as his view turned to black. ‘This is it’ thought Zidane. ‘This is the end of my life. I didn’t think it would end this way…’
