The Final Fantasy. The Forgotten Future (Episode 1) By S.Lionheart (A FF8 FanFic) Send any questions or comments to: lionheart6789@hotmail.com Eliza looked on through the bushes of the training centre to find her father in the heat of the battle against a T Rexaur. He thrust forward his weapon hoping to land a blow but the T Rexaur dodged and counterattacked with a tail swipe which sent him hurtling into a wall. He quickly regained composure and dodged a few attempts at being bitten by the reckless monster. With a few seconds to catch his breath he grasped his weapon tightly. The etching of the lion on the blade appeared to glow with intent to destroy the offending lizard. The T Rexaur charged at him. He sidestepped and gave it a blow to the leg followed by a gun shot. The T Rexaur collapsed. The warrior walked up to it suspicious of its quick death. He walked too close to it. BAM he was tripped up by its tail and hit in the stomach with it. The T Rexaur rose roaring his anger towards the human. The human used his weapon to help himself up. Badly winded he knew if he took one more blow he would be done for. But he had one more trick up his sleeve. The T Rexaur pulled back ready to deal the final blow. The warrior stood there grasping his weapon and concentrating. A blue mist suddenly appeared and surrounded the warrior. It appeared to charge his weapon. His eyes burned with frustration and anger. Then........the mist disappeared the weapon glowing, he charged at the lizard and with one swift slash he hit the T Rexaur into the air. He jumped up after it slashing mercilessly at the monster. The lizard was helpless as the lion-warrior continuously slashed at it. Then the warrior dealt a final blow ending the monsters miserable life. The monster crashed on to the floor as the lion-warrior landed gracefully gunblade in hand. Eliza gasped. She had never seen her father use the Lionheart before. Such power and speed, she began to feel intimidated. She had been learning how to use the gunblade for a year and a half but she wasn't very good at it, she had a tendency to fire the gunblade without it being in a slashing motion thus sending her reeling. She never used magic. In fact she despised magic. She had a burning hatred for sorceresses. She was brought up on the legends of SeeD and Sorceress Ultimecia and had great admiration and pride towards her father. Squall looked around him and saw the glimmer of a gunblade in the bushes. He knew it was Eliza. "Eliza come down here your training must be begin" Squall said. A young woman emerged from the bushes. Her black hair had small streaks of brown in it and it was tied into a long pony tail. Her eyes were a deep hazelnut brown. She had a fairly fragile figure. She wore a black Tshirt, a blue sleeveless jacket and a ribbon around her arm. She had denim shorts on and wore brown almost knee high boots. Her skin was pale and seemed almost lifeless but she was as beautiful as a "gift from the fairies" at Trabia. Eliza walked down towards her father dragging her gunblade along. "Eliza! Never drag you're gunblade! how many times have I told you?" scowled Squall "Oh I'm sorry father" apologized Eliza as she quickly raised her gunblade. "Never mind" sighed Sqaull "let us begin. You have remembered all I have taught you right? Well put it into good use" "Ok. Let's Go!!" exclaimed Eliza. The lion and the lionness crossed their gunblades. Eliza made the first move. She thrust her gunblade forward only to have it wedged into the ground as Squall dodged it. Squall swung his gunblade but Eliza ducked and quickly got her gunblade off the ground. She backed off and the two fighters walked in a circle watching each others eyes. This time Squall advanced with a few quick swings and stabs. Eliza defended herself, she was barely able to keep up with her father. She again advanced with a few swings of the gunblade, her father was able to defend against each successfully. She thrust her gunblade again but this time she tripped over it and fell on the ground. Squall having dodged the gunblade was ready for the final blow. He raised his gunblade and it came down on his daughter. Eliza quickly used her gunblade to block the blow and the two warriors were locked together. One with eyes as cold as snow falling on a river. The other with eyes that brimmed with passion but had an aura uncertainty in them. Eliza kicked her father in the leg and rolled to the side. She got up began attacking her father with continuous slashes. Squall was surprised by this move and tried to defend himself as best as he can. Eliza blundered. She fired her gunblade and was sent reeling into a wall. Squall saw that she was going to fire and dodged the bullet. As Eliza tried to recover something cold ran across her neck. It was Squall's gunblade. Squall sighed as he raised his gunblade. "Eliza you must improve. You can be a great gunblade mistress if you tried." Squall suggested "I know. But something just doesn't feel right...........oh you wouldn't understand" Eliza said as she got up and ran out of the training centre gunblade sheathed. Squall was offended by this. But understood that with a growing teenage daughter adolescense and stubborness are bound to be problems. Squall rested on a rock. He thought about many things; his daughter, the past and what to do about SeeD and garden. The garden was already beginning to collapse of wear. The once lush training centre was dying. Money was becoming more and more of a problem. Even though he was the "saviour of the future" he still couldn't run Balamb Garden. If only headmaster Cid were here. Squall began cursing the day the headmaster handed leadership of the garden to him. Squall left the training centre and headed to the cafeteria. He took a hot dog and some coffee with milk. He sat down and nibbled on his hot dog. It was funny how Zell was so obsessed with them. Squall started to think of Zell and what he was doing now. Zell left many years ago when Eliza was only 6. Retiring as a SeeD he decided to travel the world and teach his martial arts. New countries and cities were popping up everywhere and Zell wanted to explore them all. From his letters Squall had learned that Zell was in the newly found kingdom of Nibel and training a young student named Tifa. Zell was always the emotional one in the group and cried when Eliza born. He used give her piggy back rides and teach her punching skills and so on. Zell always made Eliza laugh. Squall was startled when he heard a cadet shout "Booyakah!!" Squall stared menacingly at the student but then smiled at him. As the cadet left Squall sat down and continued with his lunch. That word "booyakah" what did it remind him of? Oh yes it reminded him of Selphie. Always so upbeat and exciting. Selphie and Irvine left the garden when Eliza was only two. They wanted to help the rebuilding of Trabia Garden. They said they would be back when the repairs were finished but after the repairs on Trabia Garden were done the people there wanted a city on the Trabia continent and proclaimed that Selphie and Irvine would be the King and Queen of this new city. The city was called Selvine City and from what Squall had heard the city was flourishing. Quistis...........she was the last to leave and she loved Eliza and treated her as if she were her own. She left when Eliza was ten saying her work was done here and it was now up to Squall to keep her strong. After that he hadn't heard from her since. A man entered the cafeteria. Wearing a white jacket and a rusty gunblade sheathed to one side. He had blonde hair and familiar eyes. The man walked up to Squall. Squall looked up and gasped. Eliza went back to room at the dorm and placed her gunblade in it's case. She sat on her bed and stared at the ring her mum gave her. On it was a lion engraved onto the ring. The ring was in the middle of a silver chain. She put the chain around her neck. She rarely ever wore the necklace as it seemed to distress her father. When she asked her father about the ring he would coldly turn away as if he was rejecting her. She turned on her CD player and played the song Eyes On Me again. Her friends found it strange for her to be listening to such an old song. But she wasn't into the new singer, Namie Amuro. She loved the song "Eyes on Me" as made her feel secure and that one day a man will come and sweep her off her feet and take her far away to a place where they could live happily ever after. None of her friends understood how she felt, her would never understand. Only her mother......but she left this world long ago. She started singing her favourite verse of the song. Darling so share with me Your love if you have enough Your tears if your holding back or pain if thats what it is How can I let you know I'm more than a dress and a voice Just reach me out then You will know that you are not dreaming. Aiko came into Eliza's room. Her hair brushed to perfection. Beautiful golden locks of blond hair that look almost like a golden stream flowing down her back. She had the prettiest blue eyes and the most sparkling personality. But Eliza had to admit she was a bit vain. She knew she was beautiful and often flirted with the boys at the dorm. In fact she could be Eliza's exact opposite but they had been friends since they were little. Aiko took the "Eyes on Me" CD out of the CD player and put in a Namie Amuro CD. She pressed play and began to twirl around to the song. "Do you mind?" said Eliza coldly. "Eliza. Get with the times my mother likes the song Eyes on Me" Aiko complained "Well you have mother......I don't" Eliza rebutted "Thats no excuse" Aiko said her hands now on her hips. "Ok then" Eliza said and stormed out of her room. "Ellie.........wait!.......I'm sorry" Aiko apologized. Eliza ran to the quad and when she got there she cried. "Mother why did you leave me when I needed you the most.......why.......WHY?" Eliza kept crying there was no one at the quad to soothe her pain. "I'm lonely without you I need you.......you were the only one that understood me......you were the only one." Eliza sat up on the piano and began to play. She played the "Terra theme" another song that was said to be "out of date." Halfway through she collapsed onto the piano. Tears soaking the ivory keys and throughout the quad only her voice could be heard. "What was the use of saving the future when the next one would just as terrible, just as miserable. Oh Mother...You.....you left me alone, you touched my heart then........then......you were gone and you took my heart with you. The End for now I hope I can get some feedback for this fanfic as it will help me improve future episodes and so forth here are a few interesting points I'd like to make on some of the characters in this fanfic -Namie Amuro is indeed a real person. She was a very famous singer in Japan. Singers like her are called idols. Her singles and albums sold millions in there first weekend of release and inspired many other japanese girls to become singer/idols. -The Terra theme if you're smart you'll know it is the theme to Final Fantasy VI ! and was my most favourite theme out of all the Final Fantasies -Aiko is a japanese name. I used it because I thought it suited her character. Aiko in english means "lovechild" Send me lotsa feedback to lionheart6789@hotmail.com otherwise post your comments at FantasySquare.
