A Father's Legacy    
Part 2:Painful 
Memories


	After a day filled with fun, excitement, 
and playfullness, Cloud, Tifa, Cid, Shera, 
and Lloyd spent the night in North Coral 
Village again.  In the morning they all got 
on their chocobos and headed back toward 
Nibelheim.  Tifa could not stop thinking 
about the weird feeling she got on the way 
out of the Gold Saucer.  'What could it be?  
What could it mean?' questions about the 
strange feeling bombarded her every thought.
	"Tifa, what's wrong, you haven't said 
anything since we left the village?" Cloud 
asked as they came upon Cosmo Canyon.
	"Nothing!  Nothings wrong," Tifa answered 
quickly.
	"Are you sill thinking about that weird 
feeling you said you had as we left?" Cloud 
questioned.
	Tifa lied,"NO! I told you that nothing's 
wrong, now leave me alone!!"
	Cloud was dumbstruck,"........whatever 
you say, Tifa."  After that nothing was said 
until they reached Nibelheim.  When they 
reached Nibelheim, Tifa's strange feeling was 
explained, for when the got to Nibelheim, the 
entire town was leveled.
	All five of them stood next to their 
chocobos startled, dazed, confused, shocked, 
angry, and greif sticken for the many lives 
lost.  Tifa was the one to break the trance.  
She ran into the ghost town until she got to 
the wreckage of a certain building.  Cloud 
was right behind her.  They started to dig 
around in the rubble, almost like they were 
looking for something, or someone.  
	A few long minutes passed.  Tifa's hands 
were raw and bloody.  She started to slow 
down her digging and then just burst out in 
tears.  She knelt there amidst the wreckage 
of Nibelheim crying her eyes out.  Cloud just 
clenched his fist in pure, exploding anger 
and sorrow.  He started to punch the rubble 
around him, breaking some, untill he, too, 
surrendered to the coming tears.
	Cid, Shera, and Lloyd just watched as 
Cloud and Tifa greive the loss of whatever 
they had lost.
	"Ahh, how touching.  It almost brings a 
tear to my eye.  Almost," The voice came from 
nowhere, and yet, it cane from everywhere at 
the same time.  A man with black hairm, that 
went back and up, and wearing the exact same 
thing as Cloud appeared in front of everyone.  
His eyes were an evil, piercing blue.  
	Cloud went completely pale and started to 
slowly back away from the menacing figure.   
	"Z......a........c........k?!" Cloud 
could barely speak, but he was able to chocke 
out one word.  
	"Yes, it's me, Zack.  The one that you 
let Shinra troopers shoot in the back, and 
kill.  I helped you, Cloud.  I helped you!  
You were almost dead and I rescued you.  And 
you repay me by letting me got shot?"
	"I could barely lift my head!  You know 
that as well as I do," Cloud regained his 
voice, but not yet his color.  
	"Yeah, you could barely move, but you 
managed to escape the Shinra troopers AND 
take my Buster sword.  Cloud, I thought we 
were friends," Zack's retort left Cloud 
speachless.  "Ah ha! You see!  No response or 
denial to that one!  I would kill you, but 
I'm going to leave that honor to my... 
associate here."
	A young women of twenty-two stepped out 
from behind Zack.  Cloud got even more pail.  
So did everyone else except Lloyd.  Everyone 
except Lloyd recognized the young woman.  It 
was a face none of them had seen for sixteen 
years, only in their thoughts, memories, and 
in their hearts.  The woman was Aeries.
	"A..............A..........." Cloud tried 
to choke out a word but was unsuccessful.
	"Yes, Cloud, it's me, Aeries," the young 
woman answered the question that Cloud had 
tried to force out.  It was then that Tifa 
fainted.
	"I've missed you, Cloud," Aeries was face 
to face with Cloud.  Cid finally snapped out 
of the trance that the revalation of Aeries 
had put them all in.
	"Cloud! Snap out of it! Now!" Cid tried 
to get Cloud out of the trance, too.  "Cloud! 
Come on pull it together, man!!" He still was 
unsuccesful in getting through to Cloud.  He 
dove and shoved Cloud to the side just as 
Aeries thrust the blade out.  The blade that 
was meant for Cloud hit Cid in the chest.  He 
dropped to the ground.
	"NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" it was the 
first heard from Shera since they arrived at 
Nibelheim, but also the last.  In vengance 
for Cid, she dove at Aeries and was hit in 
the heart with another blade.
	At the death of his mother, Lloyd ran and 
swung his dual-sword at Aeries and she was 
cut cleanly in half.  The two halves of 
Aeries lay lifeless on the ground, but 
suddenly, it was no longer Aeries.  It was a 
young man dressed in white with orange, 
slick-back hair.
	"Rufus!" Cid said weakly.  Despite the 
fact that with his life, his voice was going, 
hatred and shock could be heard in his weak 
voice.  Tifa came to to see Shera dead and 
Cid close to death.  "Lloyd," Cid's voice was 
getting proggresively weaker, "I want you to 
have theese."  He pulled the flight goggles 
of of his forehead and handed them to Lloyd.  
"And I want you to have this," He pulled the 
cigarette box off of his ear and dumped 
something out of it and into his hand.  It 
was a small red sphere.  Lloyd found that fit 
into a small spot in his dual-sword, and was 
difficult to pull out.  
	Cid spoke three last words before his 
life left him, "Good-bye, son." It was like 
had put a knife through Lloyd's soul.  That 
was the first time Cid had ever called him 
son and not just Lloyd.  Lloyd boiled with 
anger at the death of his father.  
	"You monster," Lloyd showed his hatred 
toward the old friend of Cloud's.  He ran 
toward him ready to strike and kill.  Zack 
flicked his wrist up in Lloyd's direction, 
and Lloyd was thrown backwards.  He slowly 
stood up, still recovering from the punishing 
blow dealt by Zack.  He now looked at him 
with even more hatred, with more fear because 
he now knew just what he was dealing with, a 
monster.
	"You do know that you don't stand a 
chance against me, don't you?" Zack taunted.  
Just then, for a split second, his face 
changed.  It had white hair and the most 
evil, piercing green eyes.  The image shocked 
Lloyd, but filled Cloud and Tifa with full-
blown terror.
