Chapter Ten:Guilt

Meanwhile,Rinoa was having a lonely time in Garden with only Angelo for 
company.As the dog pranced around her in joy,she barely took notice of 
him.He thoughts were on Squall.
'Why is he so distant?There isn't anything wrong helping a friend,is 
there?Wait....a friend?I'm saying Seifer is my friend?But why can't he 
be,anyway?We practically spent almost a summer together....'
Rinoa sighed and massaged her temples.She had just finished another 
Sorcery Lesson from Edea,and her head really ached.She decided to go to her 
room and rest.
But as she was walking,a sudden pain struck her head.She stopped 
and leaned against the wall.There weren't many students around as majority 
of them were attending classes.
A junior girl saw her and walked towards her."Err,
are you alright?"
"I'm fine." Rinoa gestured to her head,then said,
"Really,I am."
The girl nodded and left her.Rinoa took a deep breath and began walking 
again.The pain shot through her head once more.This time it was so painful 
that she almost fell down.She lowered herself down and massaged her 
temples.Angelo whined.
There were footsteps and voices around the corner. Seifer appeared with 
Fujin and Raijin.When they saw Rinoa,they stopped for a moment before 
rushing to her.
"Hey!What's wrong with ya?" Raijin said,panicked.For
once,Fujin didn't kick him.Seifer knelt down and shook Rinoa gently.
"Rinoa...are you okay?"
She looked up."Uhh?Ohh..I'm alright.Just a headache,
that's all."
Fujin turned to Seifer."ROOM?" she asked.Seifer nodded and together 
with Raijin,they helped Rinoa to her dorm.Angelo followed form behind.
Just as they were reaching the dormitories,Cid made an 
announcement,"Attention to the Disciplinary Commitee,
come to my office now,please."
Raijin groaned and,as usual,got a kick from Fujin. She looked at Seifer 
and said,"HOW?"
"Yeah,don't wanna get her dead,ya know?" added Raijin.
Seifer sighed."You two go.I'll get her to her room."
"Ya sure?" Raijin sounded doubtful,but Seifer waved him away.With 
another kick from Fuijin,the DC left.
Seifer hauled Rinoa up and slowly brought her to her room.Using her 
key,he went in and sat her on the bed.
"How're you feeling?Do you want Dr Kadowaki here?"
asked Seifer nobly.
"No,never mind.I guess it's just a normal headache.
Thanks,anyway," Rinoa replied as Angelo climbed up to the bed,licking her.
"No problem..." Seifer was looking at a picture of Squall on the 
table."You okay yet with Squall?"
"Uh..not yet.He's acting like I committed crime..."
A silence.
"Oh God...my head's killing me!" moaned Rinoa. Seifer looked at her and 
knelt down again.
"Here,let me do it." He reached out his hand and began massaging her 
head.She allowed him to do so for a while,then her eyes shot open.
"Uh,this is kind of awkward..." she muttered,
studying Seifer closely.He stopped and stared at her in vague.
There was another silence.As both of them locked eyes,something inside 
Seifer urged him to move closer.He
did so,and when Rinoa made no move to resist,he leaned nearer...nearer...
Their lips touched tentatively and lightly.They started kissing for a 
while when suddenly,an invisible force hurled Seifer to the wall.There was a 
soft 'crack' as he hit the hard surface.
"Oww!!"
Rinoa stared at him,shocked."Oh my God,Seifer,I didn't mean to..." she 
trailed off as she approached the
dizzy teenager.Angelo ran to him too,sniffing curiously.
"I'm okay,I'm okay!" Seifer winced as he touched his back."What was 
that?What happened?"
"I...I lose control of my powers..." Rinoa stuttered.She suddenly 
stepped back and sat down on her bed,looking pale and frightened."Wh-what 
were we doing just now?"
Seifer got up,rubbing his neck.He stopped when the question registered 
in his mind.They stared at each other for a few seconds.
"No....no!I wasn't supposed to....I mean,if Squall finds out...we 
couldn't....--" Rinoa went hysterical,but Seifer gestured for her to calm 
down.
"No,wait,Rinoa,it isn't what you think..."
"--he'll surely break up with me and then--"
"Rinoa!" Seifer placed his hands on her shoulders.
She calmed down,breathing fast.
"Seifer...we can't...I mean,we shouldn't...." she said softly.
"But why can't we?Squall doesn't care about you anymore,right?"
Rinoa shook herself free from his grasp and smoothed back her raven 
hair.Closing her eyes,she sighed.
"Seifer,we just can't.Alright,I admit it,I HAVE feelings
for you...but that feeling isn't love.It's just.....
fondness..of a friend."
He raised his eyebrows."Fondness?"
"Yes.I love Squall...and he loves me.I know it,though he may not show 
it or say so."
Seifer said nothing.He just stared blurly.
"Seifer,please...please understand..." Rinoa was practically begging 
him.He turned to her.
"So...what're we?Just friends?"
Rinoa closed her eyes again.Exhaling,she nodded.
"Yeah....just friends."
Seifer stuided her silently.Then he looked down and smiled slightly."I 
understand what you said...but is there any chance that maybe we could....?"
Swallowing,Rinoa lowered her gaze."I don't think so....."
Seifer kept silent again.Then he nodded and gestured to her 
bed."Right...just get some rest,okay?"
"Okay.."
He left her after that,and she looked at the closed door,hugging he 
knees.
'That's one problem solved.....'

Chapter Eleven:Kidnapped

The clock showed 12:30 AM.Rikku took a deep breath
and clenched her gloved hands.She walked along the hallway quietly,making 
sure no one was around.Then she sneaked a glance at the entrance of the 
Parking Lot.A
Garden Faculty was there,blocking the way.
'Just as I thought...'
Taking another deep breath,Rikku hurried to the Faculty,faking a 
panicked face.
"Oh,hey!You gotta help me!There's this bunch of students lurking around 
in the dorms.I don't know what they're planning to do,but it may be 
something bad," said
Rikku in a frightened voice.
The Faculty nodded and walked off without a word. Rikku smiled slyly 
after him and looked around.After making sure nobody else was there,she ran 
into the Parking Lot.She approached Hicom aand ran her fingers lovingly on 
the smooth surface.Headmaster Cid said a week,but it had only been 3 days 
and she couldn't wait any longer.She was dying for a ride....a good,long 
ride.
Once again,she looked around cautiously.Then she silently wheeled the 
motorbike out.After a certain distance from Garden,she finally got on Hicom 
and rode off.
As she sped faster,she held onto Hicom tightly,
loving the feel of the wind against her face.She didn't take her helemet 
with her as it was in her room and she didn't want the Faculty to be 
suspicious.
Rikku rode faster.She felt good....light-headed....
and,most of all,free.She smiled and then decided to stop at her usual 
spot,the beach,fo some fresh air.
When she swung off from Hicom,she heard a rustling
noise beside her in the forest.She froze and turned,
trying to hear again.
Nothing.
Shrugging,Rikku strode down towards the sea and stood there,observing 
the calm movements of the waves. Then she heard that noise again.
This time it was louder and nearer.She narrowed her gaze and fixed her 
weapon onto her arm.She waited silently.
A minute went by.More rustling.
Two minutes.Even louder rustling.
And then Rikku went numb on the spot.A black cloud appeared in front of 
her,wisping away and revealing a beautiful but wicked looking lady.She wore 
a long velvet
cloak and there were ornament on her head.Her darkly lited eyes stared at 
Rikku.
"Whoa....who's that?" Rikku muttered to herself, taking a step back.The 
lady smiled evilly and then, before Rikku could do anything,she threw 
something that looked like a sharp razor knife towards the helpless girl.
There was a sickening sound...the sound of something sharp penetrating 
a soft surface...like flesh and blood...
Rikky felt a sharp pain in her every nerve.She cried out softly and 
collapsed down only to find a combat knife poking into her abdomen.Blood was 
everywhere
...even the white sand was red.
She tried to cast some recovery magic,but Rikky found herself falling 
onto the sand.She felt weak......
sleepy...that knife must have Sleeps junctioned to it.
As Rikky fell into deep unconsciousness,she heard the lady's last 
words.
"Get her."

Rinoa bolted up from her bed,breathing har.She scanned her room 
carefully and sighed in relief.She had a nightmare...a nightmare in which 
Squall was brutally torturing her,stressing the point that a SeeD and 
Sorceress could never be together.
She laid her head on her hand.Then she looked around in the 
dark."Angelo?" she whispered.
No answer.
"Angelo,are you here?Where're you?" Rinoa got up and switched on the 
lights.Her dog was nowhere to be seen.
"Angelo?" she called louder.Then she heard a soft whine and turned 
around."Where are you?"
The whining continued.It sounded like it came from outside.Rinoa 
hurriedly dressed herself and went out of her dorm,trying to track down the 
whining.She found out that it came from the Training Center 
forest.Boldly,she
climbed over the railing separating the dorm and Training Center.
As she pushed aside the leaves and plants,the whining became 
louder.Rinoa continued searching.Finally,
she saw Angelo,who was trapped under something which looked like a.....
'A giant spider....?!?!' Rinoa was shocked.She rushed to help her 
partner at once,and didn't notice a portal which clouds of dark smoke coming 
out of it.Just as she was about to reach Angelo,a huge hand formed by the 
smoke caught her neatly and pulled her into the portal.
Rinoa's scream was drowned by the sudden crashings of thunder in the 
sky.
