"I like you" By, RinoaAngel76 This is my first Final Fantasy fanfic. This fanfic doesn’t have any missions. It’s mostly about what happens to us in reality. It’s mostly about betrayal and revenge between two "friends". I’m sure you’ll know which two friends I’m talking about very soon. This fanfic CANNOT be used for commercial purposes and it is not allowed for distribution without my permission. This takes place after the game is over. But, Squall and Rinoa have not told each other how they feel about one another. But, Squall does not have the same feelings for Rinoa. Rinoa and Quistis are now students in Balamb Garden. Right now, Rinoa, Squall, and Quistis are in a class about ‘magic’. Ever since Rinoa realized she liked Squall she has become quite shy around him, even though Squall hasn’t noticed the difference, reasonably because he doesn’t really care. They sit in separate long desks. Each with a laptop in front of them. Rinoa kept stealing glances of Squall’s handsome, flawless face throughout out the entire class. "Your assignment, is to go to the training center and collect as many magic spells as you can. It will be due on Friday. That is all for today. Dismissed!," said the male instructor. Everyone got their stuff together and left. Squall and Quistis stayed behind. ‘I wonder what he’s going to talk to her about,’ Rinoa though, ‘hmm, he probably didn’t pay attention to the assignment. But why didn’t he ask me?’. Rinoa kept walking and still wondering. She went to her dorm and noticed she had a message, which was rare for her, because not many people knew her. She pushed the ‘play’ button and the message played. Rinoa began walking towards her bed, when a familiar voice said: "Rinoa, this is your father." Rinoa turned quickly to face the answering machine, which continued playing. "I still don’t understand why you went to that school. Anyway, I want you back in the Mansion by next week. We’re going to be moving someplace else. I’m sure you’ll like it. Call me back to arrange transportation." ::beep:: "Oh...no," Rinoa whispered to herself softly. She sat gently on her bed feeling sad and tired that she fell asleep. ::Cafeteria:: "Hmm, I wonder where Rinoa is," Selphie said out loud. "Yeah, where is she?" Quistis followed, while looking at Squall hoping he knew something. Squall sensed someone staring at him and turned toward Quistis’ soft glance. He stared deeply into her beautiful blue eyes. "Squall?" Quistis said. Squall blinked a couple of times before realizing he was dreaming. "Yeah?" He finally asked. "Are you okay?" Quistis asked him. "Yeah, I’m fine, what did you ask?" "Well, we were asking where Rinoa could be." " I haven’t seen her since our last class" "Someone should go check up on her," Zell suggested. "She might be in her room, I’ll go check," Selphie volunteered. "Let Squall go," Quistis suggested, knowing Rinoa would be pleased. "I’m sure she’ll want a female’s comfort right now," Squall commented. Everyone looked at one another. Everyone knew Rinoa liked Squall, and they want them to be together. But Squall seems to be pushing Rinoa away. "Fine. Selphie can you go check on her?," Quistis asked. Selphie looked at Squall before answering, but since she didn’t see any sign of affection on his face she said, "All right, I’ll be back." ::Rinoa’s dorm:: ::knock on door:: "Rinoa?" Selphie asked. Rinoa opened her eyes. ::knock on door:: "Rinoa, are you there?" Selphie asked again. Rinoa got up and opened the door. "Hey, what’s up?" Rinoa asked. "We were getting worried, aren’t you going to have anything to eat?" Selphie asked. "Oh...umm, yeah, I’ll be right down," Rinoa said in a soft voice. "All right." Selphie said, she was going to tell her about Squall not wanting to come get her but she realized it might hurt her, so she left to go back with the gang. Rinoa turned back and headed towards her dresser. She looked at her reflection and said, “Why now?” ::Cafeteria:: "Well where is she?" Zell asked. "She said she’d be coming down soon...oh! Here she comes!" Selphie said as Rinoa came into view. Rinoa walked towards the gang. And since there was an empty seat next to Squall, she took it. Everyone looked at her with worried eyes, except for Squall who was daydreaming again. "Is everything all right?" Quistis finally broke the silence. "Not really" Rinoa said softly. She looked up at Squall and saw that it had to affect on him at all. Rinoa looked even more depressed. "I...I’m.." Rinoa began, "My father called me,....he said we’re going to be moving someplace else!" "But you just began studying here!" Irvine finally spoke. "He didn’t want me to come here in the first place, I don’t think it matters to him!" "But you do want to stay, right?" Selphie asked to be sure. "Yes, but, my father never goes back on his word." Rinoa said softly. "Won’t he even care?" Quistis asked. Rinoa looked up at Squall and thought ‘Don’t you care if I leave, Squall?’. And again Squall didn’t even look up at her. The whole gang saw this and realized Squall wasn’t being very supportive, so... "Squall!!" Everyone screamed at him, which must’ve really scared him because he jumped! "What?" He asked not knowing what they’ve been talking about. "You haven’t heard a word we’ve said, have you?" Quistis began. "I’m sorry, it’s just that I was thinking about...." Squall stopped and looked at Quistis’s beautiful face and thought to himself ‘you.’ "Rinoa’s going to move, don’t you care?" Quistis said in a close-to-being-mad voice. "Well, if she does move, then it was meant to be, what more do you want me to say?" Squall said, not caring. Rinoa looked up at him with a hurt expression on her face. She was going to start crying, but she didn’t want any of them to see her, so she left the cafeteria running. She didn’t stop until she got to her dorm. There, she fell on her bed crying and thinking ‘He doesn’t care! He doesn’t care if he never sees me again!’. With that in her thoughts, she fell asleep. ::Cafeteria:: "What were you thinking, Squall?!" Selphie exclaimed. "That was cold, man. Even I know that." Irvine said. With that, everyone but Quistis left. "Did you think before you said all of that to Rinoa?" Quistis said trying to stay calm. "I’m sorry, but like I said, I was thinking about something else." Squall said in the rarest softest voice. "Is that ‘something else’ more important than a friend leaving?" She continued. He looked up at her again, but this time he noticed he was making her angry so he did the smart thing of saying... "No" Quistis stood up, looked down at him and said... "Then you should tell her that." And with that, she left. Squall looked at her as she was leaving and thought ‘Yes, you are’. ::One week after:: Rinoa still couldn’t believe a whole week had gone by. She still felt sad at what Squall had said to her. But what made her even more sadder, is the fact that he hadn’t even tried to apologize to her. She now had all of her belonging in her briefcases. She looked around at what used to be her room, and then she left. As she was descending the stairs from the entrance of the Garden she noticed everyone was there, including Squall and the Headmanster. The Headmaster came to her first. "It was a pleasure to have had you in our Garden. Never hesitate to come visit us. Good Luck." Rinoa went to him and hugged him, he had been a real help to her since the first day. As she finished hugging him a black car stopped in front of the Garden and a man in a black tux came out and began walking towards Rinoa. "Are there anymore belongings?" He asked as he picked up the two briefcases. "No," Rinoa said to him. "We should get going then, your father is a busy man," he said in a demanding voice. "Right," Rinoa said in a sad voice. She looked at everyone and tried her best to smile. She then turned around and began walking towards the car. She realized that if she said good-bye to any one them she would start crying. When she was in the car, she looked out the window and saw everyone staring at her. She placed her hand on the glass window, she looked at Squall ‘Good-bye Squall’ she thought to herself and a tear streamed down her cheek. The car started and everyone went out of view. ::Three months later:: Rinoa went to a new a institution named Blooming Garden. It wasn’t as nice as Balamb Garden but it was the closest to her new home. She had to admit that her new Mansion was nicer, she even had the room with the best view of the ocean. This three months had been going all right for Rinoa. Although, one day she received an e-mail from Quistis ( that’s how they’ve been keeping in touch). It said: Dear Rinoa, How have you been?. I’m ok. Well, I’m going to tell you something I found out, before anyone else tells you. I was chatting with Zell the other day and he said that Squall likes me. I’m like “No he doesn’t!”. But he kept on telling me to ask him, so I did and he said that it’s true. Sincerely, Quistis Rinoa felt heartbroken and angry. She wrote back saying: Dear Quistis, What can I say?...I mean, you are prettier than me and I never made a move on Squall. I still like him but I can’t change his feelings. But now that I’m thinking about it, since I haven’t seen Squall, my feelings for him are beginning evaporate ( She lied ). Besides there are A LOT of cute guys here! Sincerely, Rinoa Rinoa lied to her friend and to herself. She thought, ‘ I still like him, but what am I suppose to say? I don’t want her to think I’m jealous and selfish.’ ::Another three months later:: Rinoa and Quistis have not e-mailed each other since Rinoa lied. Rinoa was in her dorm organizing some of her stuff. Then.. ::Phone rings:: "Hello?" Rinoa answered. "Hi Rinoa" a familiar voice says from the other end of the line. Rinoa was silent because she knew who it is. It’s Quistis. "Hey!," Rinoa said. "Wow, it feels like we haven’t spoken for almost a year doesn’t it?" Quistis tried to act cheerful. "Half a year," Rinoa corrected her. "Yeah, but you know how expensive long distance calls are. Anyway, I was just calling to invite you to my birthday party tomorrow. I tried to pull it off, but Squall insisted to have it." ‘Squall,’ Rinoa thought. She had not forgotten him, or ever will. "But isn’t your birthday in 4 days?" Rinoa asked "Yeah, but it’s on a weekday" Quistis informed her. "Who else is going?," Rinoa asked. "Well the whole gang’s going to be here," Quistis said cheerfully. "Oh...well, I’ll try" Rinoa said, more to herself than to Quistis. "Ok, well hopefully you can make it. Bye!" "Yeah, bye." Rinoa said softly. Rinoa couldn’t believe it at first. ‘ How could she have invited me one day before?...I hate her.’ ::Four days later:: ::Phone rings:: "Hello?" "Happy Birthday Quistis!" Rinoa said trying to be cheery. "Thanks," Quistis sounded delighted. "Sorry I didn’t make it to the party I was extremely busy!" Rinoa lied. "That’s ok..." Quistis reassured her. "Did you get many gifts?" Rinoa asked. "Well, you know about me and Squall, right?" Quistis asked, and seemed like she held her breath. ‘Her and Squall? They’re together??’ Rinoa thought. Heartbroken again. "Oh, yeah, I know," Rinoa lied, still not believing what she had heard. "Well, he gave me a bouquet of roses and a necklace," Quistis said. "Oh, that’s nice," Rinoa wanted to sound happy, but she sounded sad. She wanted to start crying. "You know what? I have to go, I have a class right now" Rinoa lied again. "Oh ok," Quistis said. "Happy Birthday, again" Rinoa told Quistis again. "Thanks" Quistis answered happily. "Bye" "Bye" When Rinoa hung up, she couldn’t believe it. ‘How could she have gotten with him without telling me first?? And ask if ‘I’ was ok with it?? B*****!’ ~Well I need to know what you guys think Rinoa should do. So if you guys can please give me some suggestions I will appreciated. E-mail me at Desolationangel76@yahoo.com Thanks for reading!~
