“Olympus’ Echo” – Part 2 By: Raquel Gontijo Menezes – Rogue Disclaimer: This fanficton is a private story with no financier’s objectives, so, can’t sue me! Chapter 2 – Salve, Zeus In the last chapter, Selphie, Quistis, Irvine, Zell, Rinoa and Squall were in a mission to the Centra Ruins and found out more than they wanted. “YOU’LL PAY FOR THIS INTRUSION!” “What the...?” Irvine just came in. “Whoever are you, get out of there!!!” Squall pointed his gunblade to the ruins. A white smoke appeared in front of them and it condensed into a man’s form. The men had a white beard and looked about 30 years old. He looked pretty strong and was wearing a white tunic. “WHO ARE YOU?” “We ask you the same question.” “I’M ZEUS, THE GOD OF THE GODS!” “Squall, perhaps we should slow down... he’s really, really powerful.” Rinoa whispered. “A young virgin sorceress! What a surprise!” “And don’t even know her own strength. Then, you must be the famous Rinoa.” Zeus softened his voice. “I’m Zeus, The Thunder’s God, at your service...” He reached over and kissed Rinoa’s hand. “Well, thank you!... I think.” “So, what are you doing here?” Squall asked with jealous. “That, I can’t tell you, Sorceress Knight!” “Call me Squall Leonhart, please.” “If that is thy wish...” “So, you’re really the Greek God?” Selphie was curious. “Yes, mortal, I’m. And now, if you excuse me, I must be going. They are waiting for me.” “Who?” Squall squeezed the gunblade in his hands. “The gods... we have something to do.” “If you want to stay here for a while, I’ll be happy to talk to you later.” And with that, Zeus disappeared. “What was that?” Quistis was speechless. “I don’t know, but I don’t trust this guy. I think we should spent the night here.” Squall raised an eyebrow. “It’s soo strange... He changed completely when he saw Rinoa.” “And I’m not really confortable with that... What does he want from me?” “Don’t you worry about it. After all, that’s why we’re here.” Irvine sat in a rock. “I think it’s better if we went back to the Ragnarok. It’ll be down soon...” Zell turned around to start walking. “Zell is right. There’s nothing we can do for now.” Squall put away his gunblade. ***** Later, in the Ragnarok. “It’s just me or suddenly it’s really cold in there?” Selphie covered herself with a blanket. “Yeah... what is this?” Rinoa started fell a little dizzy. “Good night, mortals.” Zeus entered by the door. “You again. What do you want?” Irvine moaned. “DON’T ABUSE OF YOUR LUCK, MORTAL. I’VE ONLY KEPT YOU ALIVE BECAUSE OF THE SORCERESS. I came here to propose you a partnership.” “What kind of partnership?” Squall stood inflexible. “You give me one thing and I’ll become you allied.” “What thing?” “Sorceress Rinoa must come with me to Olympus.” “What for?” “I need help with some magic. Not drawed magic, sorcery.” “We’ll think about it. But, I want to know something: what was that disappearances all about?” “Would you think a better way to draw the attention of a good Sorceress?” “And where are they?” “They’re at Olympus. They’ll be released tomorrow.” “We’ll be heading to the Garden tomorrow morning.” “I can send a messenger there to know if you’ve accept my offer.” “Thank you.” “Have a nice sleep, young ones.” Zeus left through the door. “Squall, I have a bad feeling about this...” Rinoa shaked. “Don’t you worry, Rinny.” He hugged her. “We don’t have to accept it.” “You know, he’s pretty full of himself for a god.” Zell finally spoke. “Why don’t you said anything today, Zell?” “I was getting my conclusions on the snob one.” “You? Thinking instead of acting?” Quistis giggled. “What? Why that? I can think too...” Everyone busted in laughter. “Yeah, make fun of me...” “Calm down, Zell! It’s just a joke.” Irvine could not stop laughing. ***** When Squall opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Selphie’s face with a smile the could light the night. “Wake up, sleepy boy!!! We gotta go!” “Ow, Sefie! Let me sleep just a little longer...” “Let me think about it... No. We had to go back to Balamb and you know the way better than anybody.” “OK!!!” He was greeted by a chorus when he entered the lodge. “Hey!” “Good morning, everyone! Let’s go. The sooner we get to the Garden, the better.” Everybody went back to what they were doing and Rinoa whispered to Squall. “So, did you sleep well?” “Yeah, but I wish I could sleep s little more...” “I was thinking about the thing that Zeus said when he saw me. I’m really praying for that to be truth.” “What are you talking about?” “I’m talking about the Festival night.” Squall sighed deeply. “I pray for it too...” “Really? At the time you didn’t seemed to be paying attention for what he was saying.” “Well, I did. But I was wander how he could know that.” “God, you’re right! But, he’s a god, he must know everything.” “I hope so.” “Ow, I’ve almost forgot... Do you want any breakfast?” “Yeah, thanx. I’m starving.” “Attention, please! In a few minutes we’ll be landing at Balamb Garden.” Selphie’s voice could be heard through the speaker. “I think the breakfast idea is off...” Rinoa moaned with sadness. “Who said that? We can have breakfast at the cafeteria.” “Really? You don’t have any meeting or a report to give?” “I can do this later. After all, I’m Garden’s commander.” ***** “Nemesis is overloaded. We HAVE to acquire another servant. I’ve found a perfect candidate: Sorceress Rinoa. She already have her own powers and would be a excellent admission.” Zeus discoursed. “But would that be ethic? After all, she didn’t do anything to displease us.” Aphodith drank the rest of her nectar. “No that wouldn’t. Besides, she is a Sorceress, she is necessary there. And she is a warrior and she saved that world.” Athenas pondered. “You only said that because you’re the Warrior’s Guardian. I’ve already made my move. Who’s with me?” Ades, Apolo and Demeter stood up. “You are been selfish. If you want a fight, you’ll get a fight. Who’s with me?” Heros, Aphodith and Arthemis stood up. Author’s Note: For those that don’t know Nemesis story, she was a girl that lived in Earth during the war between the Ciclops (leaded by Zeus) and the Titans (leaded by Chronos, Zeus’ father). She and her father stayed in the side of the Titans and when the Ciclops won, they were slaved and Nemesis became the gods’ murderer. She killed those who were judged guilty by the gods’ law. She was “rewarded” with god’s powers and immortality and has been their slave since then. ***** “I won again!” “That’s not fair! You’ve won from all the CC group.” “Maybe you should have some more training...” “Why? You’ll ending up winning again.” “Come on, Rinny. I’ll help you out.” “Ok, I accept your offer, but under one condition...” “Name it.” “That you give me a REAL kiss.” “Can it be later?” “No. It has to be now.” “Well, then come with me.” Squall dragged Rinoa to one of the many gardens of the Garden and gave her a kiss that made anyone envy. ***** “Rinny, I’ve some things to do, so I’ll see you later, ok?” Squall said still embracing Rinoa. “Tonight, then.” “What time?” “0900h at the front gate.” “I’ll be there.” He gave her a little kiss and began to walk away. “Bye.” “Bye!” ***** It was about 6:30h. As the door opened, Squall entered his room and felt a wave of cold air. He turned to see the window but it was closed. He raised an eyebrow, confused, but didn’t gave much importance to the cold. He was about to enter the bathroom when he felt that someone was watching him. He drew his gunblade and passed his eyes over the room. A woman was leaned against the desk. She has bunchy, golden hair with big sky blue eyes. She was wearing a white tunic, like Zeus, with a golden shield in one hand and, in the other, she held a golden crook with a like bird symbol in the edge. “Hello, Lionhart. I’ve been waiting for thee. I’m Athenas, Goddess of Wisdom and Guardian of the Warriors. I’m here to warn thee. Do not accept Zeus offer: he’s just trying to enslave Rinoa. He’s opportunist and selfish and he won’t think twice if he gets the chance to get the Sorceress. She doesn’t know, but she’s really powerful. She can destroy a whole nation with a magic. If Zeus keep this power to himself he’ll be two times more powerful then now.” “Why should I believe you? What guarantees that I have? Maybe you’re the one who wants to control Rinoa’s powers.” “Because I’m your guardian and I would never do something to damage the one who killed Ultimecia. Plus I won’t win anything destroying this world. I can help you but, for now, the only one who can sees me is you. The others know about this, they might ruin the plan.” “But, what does Zeus wants with Rinoa?” “He wants to slave her so he can control her powers to do whatever he wants. With that power he can slay all the one who could be dangerous to him. Including you.” “A-Are you saying that Rinoa might... kill me?” TO BE CONTINUED... Ok, this went off a little different that I had in mind, but I think it changed to better. For those out there who like Zeus, don’t be offended: I like him too, but he’s REALLY selfish and arrogant (Blame the Greeks!!) and I liked to show this side of him. Yes, I’ve brought others gods to the picture. Zeus seemed a little overpower alone. Can you imagine? Squall performing a Lion Heart and Zeus receiving a scratch. And then, Zeus would say “YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE DONE, MORTAL!!” followed by a catastrophic blow that could be seen from the moon and a half-dead Squall lied in the floor. (Owa, That line went out pretty good!) You must be thinking “What about that Irvine’s ex thing? And the girl with a ponytail?” Be patient... they’ll be back later. In the meanwhile, there it goes a preview for the things to come. - The fight between Irvine and Selphie; - The Olympus’ War; - The Rinoa’s kidnapping; - The New Nemesis; - The Athenas’ “Appearance”.
