If you have waited long, I can do nothing but apologize. Sorry. Well, I hope to update Songs Of Yesterday, hopefully every month from now on. Anyway, here are some advises: 1. Do NOT read this if you haven't completed Final Fantasy VIII, as you would not know what is going on. 2. Do NOT read this if you haven't read the first few chapters of Songs of Yesterday!!! You know, I don't really like to spoil the game for RPG players like you all of you... So please listen to my advises. :) I really hope that you readers would forgive me for all the spelling mistakes I made in the past chapters of this FanFiction. As I am using NotePad, there is no Spell Check in it, so the mistakes. I will try to lessen the spelling errors from this chapter on. So, here is the ALL-NEW, BACK TO ACTION, 'Songs Of Yesterday - Chapter 5'!! Take your time, and enjoy this chapter of my FanFiction! Scene: Lord Esca, agreed to Squall's terms and agreed to have a fair duel with Squall for one price - Rinoa. Whoever wins shall have Rinoa and the loser, shall die. Chapter 5: The final duel with the masked man The duel started, with both Squall and the masked man staring at each other. Rage and fury, together, burning up in each of them. Neither of the man could wait any longer for something to happen. At the same time, they rushed towards the man standing in front of each of them. "Prepare to die! All evil powers, I summon you! Show this man your presence and make him feel it!" shouted Lord Esca as he halted. Squall, did not believe in the evil that Lord Esca was talking about and he continue dashing towards Lord Esca. Squall thought of Rinoa all the time, and all his anger was let out in a slash of his Lionheart on Lord Esca. Soon, a cloud of smoke appeared, and Squall thought that all was over. "Hahahaha... Do you think I would die that easily? A weak slash like that would not even give me a tiny cut! Watch out, it's my turn!" was what only Squall heard. He looked around for Lord Esca, but could not see anything. A flash of light suddenly came through Squall's eye. The next thing that everyone nearby saw, was Squall lying on the floor. The battle between the high- ranked SeeD and the mysterious man had brought a large crowd. "Hey, Squall! Get up, dude! You can't lose - for Rinoa and us!!" shouted Zell in the near distant. Squall couldn't move completely. "Heh... Felt my power yet? Are you still persistent enough to get up? Or do you want to continue lying here like a fool? Muahahaha!!" 5 minutes passed... Still, Lord Esca was waiting for something to happen and Squall, was still lying on the ground. "Get up Squall, I don't want to go with this man, this evil man... I want you Squall... Please wake up a save me" a familiar voice said, in Squall's mind. Squall slowly gained his strength to stand up again. "No, I won't give up so easily!", heard Lord Esca and was shocked to see Squall standing up. "What is this? A joke? How could he stand up again!?" said Lord Esca in shock and anger. Squall immediately got his gunblade, Lionheart and started walking towards Lord Esca. "This battle has not ended. Let's continue!" said Squall to Lord Esca. "Alright... I'll play with you some more...", said Lord Esca as he started chanting, "Evil Beast, devour all light and bring darkness here!!" Soon, a black creature, with wings on his back and a horn on his head appeared. "What!? Is this a summon too!? What could this be? Some devil...?" asked Irvine the moment he noticed the beast. "Now, don't think you can ever stop this! Soul Crusher!!" shouted Lord Esca. The beast, responding to Lord Esca's command, started moving at a high speed towards Squall. "Squall, don't stand there doing nothing! Do something!" shouted Quistis when she saw Squall standing in amazement. Squall was awoken from his daze and started to evade the beast's attack. "Holy of all holy, Alexander come!" said Squall to himself when he evaded the beast's attack. Soon, a bright light appeared. "Alexander, HOLY JUDGEMENT!!!" shouted Squall as he too, charged towards Lord Esca. This time, Lord Esca was standing in awe, he did not know that Squall had a GF too. A bad mistake. Squall thrusted his gunblade, Lionheart into Lord Esca and inflicted him with major damage. Alexander too, was on the winning side. "You win this time, but don't forget me, I'll be back anytime!! Hahahaha!!" shouted Lord Esca in agony as he tried to run away. After seeing Lord Esca gone into the midst of nowhere, the whole Balamb Garden was full of cheers and whispers. "Rejoice! Lord Esca is gone!", "Squall's the best!", was said by the different SeeDs, but Squall didn't care. All he cared for most was for Rinoa. He walked towards Rinoa and lifted her up from the ground into his arms. "Rinoa, are you alright? Please answer me... I don't want to be left alone - Again..." said Squall softly to Rinoa. The rest of the party saw all of this. Quistis was the first to talk, "Squall, I think we should bring Rinoa to a healer. We can't possibly heal her with what we got..." Squall heeded Quistis' advice and brought Rinoa to a doctor in the Garden. After a long wait, Rinoa's report was out... "She's poisoned. In fact, badly poisoned... I doubt there's any more hope for her..." said the doctor to the party. Squall was determined that he could save Rinoa and said, "No! She can be saved! Please, tell me! I know there is a way!" The doctor shook his head and walked away. Rinoa was still lying, waiting for something to happen. Squall, knowing that he could still save Rinoa, traveled out of Balamb Garden on his own, to look for a better healer... ------------- Author's Note ------------- *Plays the same ending theme as before* This is the end of Chapter 5 of Songs of Yesterday.
