Final Fantasy VIII : The Lion Heart

Hey Everyone ! My names Mike Wong and this is my first fanfic so I'm gonna give this my best 
try . Also like every other person who writes fanfics of ff8 , I don't own any of the ff8 cast , 
or even others like the super saiyens of dragonball z , pokemon (yes , pokemon , if neone doesnt 
like it then sue me), or others i might mention, but the ones that I made up, my friend Payce , 
and a others i'll mention that are unknown to people are mine , so dont try to use any of this 
without my concent , okay? So anyways , this is supposed to be a month after the Ultimecia 
Battle. It's mainly about a young teen who is unaware of what his purpose in life is , but finds
out that he is of more importance than he can possibly imagine. I've played this game enough so 
I'll try to do my best to make the ff8 characters seem like they are supposed to in the game. 
The main character is myself too. If you like this one , or wanna give me advice about it , 
then send your comments to either of my e-mail addresses at the end of this fic. I hope you 
enjoy it.

Fic 1:Prologue- Discovery.

In an all out battle of two warriors that rages on for what seems like moments , all she can 
see is one of pure light in combat with one who is of pure darkness. but something seems wrong 
in this. The young man of light fights on his own while the man of darkness overly outnumbers 
him. It all seemed impossible , but the Light Warrior , weilding a gunblade that she has never 
seen before , has a faith in him so strong that she could sense it without even trying , and the 
young man overcomes the darkness. Then There's a flash of light and she wakes up. 

The young woman sat up on her bed in a cold sweat , wiping her forehead with a face cloth on 
a table next to her bed. "This is the third time now. It can't be just a dream" , she left her 
dorm wearing a wrinkled blue trench vest (if that's what it is) , with two wings sewn onto the 
back , since she slept with her regular clothes on. she walked to a dormitory single not too far 
from her own . She opened the door to find a young man , about 17 , wearing mainly black and a 
chain necklace with a lion pendant. He stared off out his window , almost seeming like he hasn't 
heard the young woman come in. "It happened again , didn't it Rinoa?" was what he asked when she
started to approach him.

"Yeah . Squall.....I think this isn't just a dream."
 
Squall looks with a bit of his usual cold and reluctant look . "Rinoa , I mean come on , theres 
a lot of people who have dreams more than once , and even though Matron is teaching you how to 
see into the future , you still dont know if its true or not . Besides , in the future , there 
are no guarantees . Didn't you tell me that?"

"Yeah , I know. It's just that.....this time I know that it's going to happen , I just know it. 
Don't try to tell me that Its just a dream. If it happens then you'll know that I'm not joking." 

"Ok , I'm sorry Rinoa. " Squall said , in a soft tone and wrapped his arm around Rinoa

A smile quickly formed on her face with that hug, "Hey , you've been starting to become the nice 
apologizing type over the past month. That's a bit of a change from living in your cold 
exterior."

"Well , you're my angel Rinoa , and I can't just say something that's unintentionally mean and 
not apologize. And people might like the change of me being friendly......wait a minute , I'm 
starting to drift off from what brought you here for the past three nights. I know that it 
concerns you Rinoa . Do you wanna talk to Edea about it in the morning?"

Rinoa then gives him a look that seems like she was gonna laugh ,"Squall...its already 
morning."

He Looks at his clock , which read 6:30am , "Oh , haha! I mean later on in the morning."

Rinoa was still smiling at Squall , since he didn't usually laugh all that often , "Okay , Later 
than."



 10:26am , Zell , Selphie , and Irvine were in the cafeteria enjoying a quick meal til an 
announcement came in through the intercom: Zell , Selphie , Irvine , would you come to the 
bridge please? The Commander would like to see you , it sounds kinda important." 
Squall started to talk as soon as he heard "commander" . "Nida , please dont call me that."
"Then how about a speech Squall?" 

Speeches were one of the things that Squall just never come to like."A speech? Forget 
it.....I need the guys up here right now , so a speech can wait."

Irvine and Selphie got out of their chairs , Zell was still stuffing his face with hotdogs 
since he never couldnt get any fast enough before he fought Ultimecia with the others . 
Selphie , being a little stubborn about it said , "Zell , come on . Squall needs us . Your 
hotdogs aren't gonna go anywhere."

"Just one more , ppplllleeeaaassseee???"

"YOU EITHER COME WITH US OR I'LL DRAG YOU OUT OF HERE!!!!!"

And sure enough , Selphie dragged him out of the cafeteria while he was trying to grab a 
hotdog off the table.

Irvine couldn't help but laugh at the sight . "HaHA!! That's my girl , you tell em'."

They headed up to the 3rd floor , known as the bridge , and found Rinoa , Squall , and 
Quistis in a deep discussion."But how can Matron  teach Rinoa how to use her powers? Isn't it 
that when a sorceress loses her powers , then she can't teach any others how to use them without
knowing how it feels or such?" Quistis tried to point out.

Rinoa quickly popped in and answered her question , "Not exactly , Edea learned how to do these 
ablilities over the years and shes mastered it already. Remember when we went to Esthar with 
Edea? She used the magic that she used as a sorceress."

Quistis was kind of lost and was having a hard time understanding what Rinoa meant."But....what
the point is? I still don't get it."

"Okay , I'll try to make more sense out of it . Edea was able to use her abilities even after 
she lost her 'sorceress' powers , but she knows so well how to use them that she can still use 
them , even though they've been weakened after I absorbed her powers."Rinoa said , trying to 
make it completely clear.

OH , okay....hey , how do you know about Matron being with us when we went to Esthar? And why 
didn't you mention to us about having Matron teach you?"

Rinoa knew this was coming up."Well...first of all , Edea told me all about what happened 
during the trip to Esthar , and the second thing , I was just afraid that everyone might 
think that if I was learning how to do the things that might bother others , then...they might 
not want me around...and....."

Selphie jumped in of course since Rinoa still was a bit afraid that people might not want her 
around after she became a sorceress. "Rinny , you know that we wouldn't hate you . You're our 
friend and nothings gonna change that. You hear?"

Rinoa showed a small smile."Yeah , you right , I'm sorry."

"Hey , don't worry about it ."Zell says , trying to get into the conversation.

Squall gets everyones attention so he can tell them the main reason why they're there."Guys , 
we gotta talk about what Rinoa's seeing in these dreams of hers. This morning she actually 
proved to me that what she sees is true. she told me about a card game that I played in her 
dream with Xu. In her dream I lost but Rinoa told me which cards to use and how to use them , 
she even told me which card to take when I won."

Irvine said his piece,"Hey. You got to play with Xu? Where can I find her?"

"HEY! WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?!?!"Selpie yelled in jealousy and unappreciation.

"....uagh..nothing..."was all Irvine said.

Zell was into playing cards so he just had to ask ,"Well what happened next? did you beat her?"

"To be honest , yeah. And I did it the way Rinoa said I should."Squall said in a bit of a 
humerous way.

Nida was listening in on the conversation , and the garden was parked in FH again with the 
Ragnarok docked there too ,meaning that he was gonna put in his two cents of the conversation,
"Come on Squall , quit pullin our legs , how are we supposed to know that's true?"

"If you dont believe me then go to Xu. She'll tell you. And take this sheet , it's got all 
the moves of how we played written down on it . Just ask her what happened and read the sheet."

"Okay Squall , what's this really all about? its gotta be more than just about Rinoa's 
dreams."Quistis squeezed her words into the matter again.

Squall looks at Rinoa,"You should tell them. You know what you see better than I do."

Rinoa stands up to tell everyone what it's all about."Okay everyone. This may sound a little 
wierd , but we have to find someone thats not of this dimension." 

Zell gives her his usual confused look,"Huh? You mean with that inter-dimensional generator 
thingy we had installed in the Ragnarok?"

"Exactly Zell. It's a smooth ride so we dont have anything to worry about. And besides , it 
only takes 3 seconds to get where we need to go with it."

Even though Squall is with Rinoa about all this , he had to ask details ,"Rinoa....who exactly 
are we looking for?"

"Well.....he's a teenager , about 15. He only knows how to unleash a small perecntage of his 
full potential in extreme circumstances. And he's extremely skilled at using gunblades. and not 
to offend you Squall , but he makes you look like a beginner when it comes to handling one. As I 
was saying , even though he's got many skills and has a power not many people understand , he 
doesn't seek to use it. theres not many people who don't seek to use their power and gain more 
power. From what I know , he's a good kid with a heart of gold. , speaking of gold....his 
gunblade is a mix of your Lion Heart , Seifers Hyperion , and of the revolver."

"But what does it look like in general Rinoa? I mean , It has to be a new model or something.
"Squall adds in.

"Well....umm......its color scheme is like your Lion Heart , but it' gold and white , not blue 
and white. It's shaped like the revolver , but with three triggers that look like one. And it 
has an automatic function on it like Seifers."

"But where are you getting at Rinoa? He's got a gunblade , big deal , there's a lot of people 
who got gunblades." Nida mentions.

"True , but this is one of a kind. And....this may be a bit of a shock to you all but....
"Rinoa trails off.

Squall just looks at Rinoa for a couple of seconds , rests his hands on her shoulders , and 
tries to talk to her,"Rinoa , what is it?"

"Squall.....you know how you wear your Griever necklace?"

"Yeah , what is it , does he have a chain like this too?"

"Well...yeah , but there's something else..."

"Rinoa , tell me....please. I'm not really sure where you're trying to get at?"said Squall 
worrying about Rinoa while feeling that there's something wrong.

"Squall.......Griever....is his GF!"

"What?!?! I thought that we defeated Griever . And I thought Griever didn't even exist until the 
future came around."

Rinoa seemed a little bothered by all this , but she calmed herself down enough to tell everyone 
else what was left to tell."Actually , Griever has been around since before the dawn of time , 
and has power beyond anything we could possibly even imagine. From what I seen and heard in one 
of my dreams , it wields a weapon the size of the weapon that Ultima Weapon had. this might seem 
like a coincedence , but Grievers weapon is a gunblade."

Squall looked like he knew something about this talk with Griever."Uh....Rinoa?"

"Yes?"

"Does this....relate to the legend of the One Who was of the 3 attributes?"

Everyone knew about the legend , but Quistis was the only one who was gonna speak,"...Yeah. Born 
under 3 signs and qualities , the sincerity of a sea-creature , the rage of a dragon , and the 
heart of a lion. A young man who is either born from light or darkness. The choice is up to the 
young man , but its favored in the light , since there were many of this kind of person , one 
for each generation. They all held the same title in their times , but I can't remember what 
they were called..."

Rinoa felt she didn't need to say anything else , so she made a bit of an announcement."Everyone
, we have to find this teenager." 

Selphie just had to add her last two cents worth to end it though."Rinny , ok , this all seems 
like a big discovery and I wanna hear it.......but why do we need to find this kid? That's the 
part I don't get."

"Because Selphie..." she said as she headed toward the elevator , and before she went down to 2f 
to get to the Ragnarok ,"He's The Lion Heart."







OK , it didn't have fighting or any violence in it , but its a prologue to let ya know what 
they're doing. like I said before , if you have any comments or suggestions , just email me , 
because i'm welcome to any suggestions for this.
