Love Triangle A Final Fantasy VIII story By KyleJCrb *Before we start* Heres some stuff you need to know before I start: 1. I have never really played FFVIII, so excuse any mistakes I've made and feel free to correct me at KyleJCrb@hotmail.com 2. You may be wondering why I'm writing about something I've never really played. Well, during the short time that I played this game, I saw one of the most beautiful digital girls I have ever seen in a video game, Quistis Trepe. I've done a lot of research since then, and putting everything down here. 3. There is a new character(and star), me! If you don't like new characters(why not?), don't read it. 4. The setting is the Balamb Garden. The main characters(Mostly all of them are in here, but the characters the story is based on) are me(Kyle), Quistis, and Zell(You see where I get the Love Triangle part from?). My GF is the Knights of the Round(Remember FFVII? This was the best summon if you got its level up way high, and I know theres no such thing as Knights of the Round GF, but it my story and I'm stickin' to it!). My weapon of choice is the pistol(I'm a pretty good marksman, so don't underestimate me using such a wimpy weapon). 5. This is the first chapter, so if you notice anything wrong(I'll try my best to put in some depth) e-mail me at KyleJCrb@hotmail.com 6. And finally, ENJOY! Chapter 1 - First Impressions of Balamb Garden "Hey Kyle! We're here! Wake up!" my best friend Tony yelled as he bursted into my room. "Dammit Tony! Don't do that!" I sat up and blinked my eyes before I adjusted to the light. "Come on! You gotta get off this boat quick, or there gonna leave!" I threw my legs over the side of the cot I slept on on the ship. Since I knew we were arriving at the Balamb Garden first thing in the morning, I got ready and slept in my clothes so I could get up and leave. Tony wasn't getting off here, he was off to Deling City, to look for a carreer. I I stood up and stretched, then I sat back down as I reached for my steel- toed boots, hidden under the cot. I slipped them on and tied them up, then reached for the large backpack of my stuff at the foot of the cot. I put it on my back and stood up. "Hey Tony?" "Yeah man?" "Good luck." "Same to you." He replied with a grin. I smiled and raised my hand up, and he did the same thing. Then we gave the "high five". "See ya in the future, Tony." "Yep. We'll meet again." I stepped up onto the deck and looked over to my left, looking at the Garden. It was very similar to the Golden Garden I had just been transferred from(I don't know why, I only had about a week before my final SeeD exam), so I shouldn't have too much trouble finding my way around. I walked across the deck to the ramp that led off, and walked down it. "Man, did it ever feel good to be on solid ground again!" I thought. I looked around. The Balamb Garden was a very busy place, unlike the Golden Garden. The Golden Garden was a small garden, and not many people lived in it, so the Balamb Garden was very different. "I bet I look like some sort of tourist," I thought to myself as I turned to what I thought would be the main building. Assuming thats where I had to go, I started walking towards it. Before I reached the door, I looked up. The fog was pretty thick, and the top off the building was fogged out. It was pretty wierd for me, since the Golden Garden is inland, and I never saw fog this thick. I moved my head back towards the door and walked in. I entered into a hallway, which was rather bland. However, that was expected in Garden hallways. The Golden Garden was the same way. I walked down the hallway, passing by several classrooms, some sets of lockers, and various other things. As I walked down the hall, I looked at the doors, looking for one with the number '915'. That was about the only thing the boat captain told me to look for.912, 913, 914.."Ah! Here it is! 915!" I said to myself. I knocked to see if anyone was there. "Come in." a deep voice said through the door. I reached for the knob, and turned it, pushing the door. open. "Hello. Can I help you?" "Um, are you headmaster Cid?" "Yes, sir. Thats me!" "Hello. I'm Kyle, the new transfer from the Golden Garden." "Ah yes. Pleasure to meet you, Kyle. Please, have a seat." Cid stood up and extended his hand. I took it and firmly shook it. I then took my heavy backpack off and sat down in one of the brown chairs in front of his desk. "Welcome to the Balamb Garden. As you know, we are the in the best interest of training new SeeDs, but looking at your records, it seems you are not new to SeeD at all." "Nossir. I have been training to become a SeeD since I was thirteen." I said. "Ah. Same as one of our best instructors." he replied. "Well, anyway. Lets get to what you came here for, your instructor and dormitory assignment! Hm, lets see here..." Cid type away on his computer, inputing my name into what looked like a search engine. of some kind. "Here we go! You've been assigned to dormitory 55, and you've been placed in instructor Trepes class, room 832, in the building next to this one." Cid open a drawer in his desk and fumbled through papers. "Here. This is the keycard to dorm 55. If you lose it, we can't replace it, so don't lose it!" "Don't worry sir. I have a safe place for it." I said. "Well, thats all. Enjoy yourself here, and feel free to take a look around the facilites today. Tommorow you will start class." "Thank you, headmaster Cid." I shook his hand again and picked up my backpack, slipping it onto my back, and turning towards the door. I opened it, and turned to walk down the hallway. While I was walking down the hallway, a rather hurried woman wearing glasses and a brown vest almost knocked me over. "Woops! Excuse me!" She said as she hurried along. I never even had time to say anything. I turned around as she ran into the headmasters office, and then turned around, thinking nothing of it. I eventually found dorm 55 on the second story of a motel-like structure. I slipped the keycard into the slot above the knob, and the door made a 'click!' noise as it unlocked. I turned the handle and opened the door. As I stepped in, I took a look around. It was a rather small two room dormitory, but it was comfortably furnished. There was bed over in the right corner, a chair right next to the door on the left side, a dresser(finally! A real dresser!) next to the bed, a stand with a small TV(don't know if they're in the FFVIII world, but they are now!). Over in the corner was the doorway to the bathroom, which had a sink on top of a vanity, a toilet, and a shower(good for getting the salt off your body after a long sea trip!). The room was pretty small, but it was nice for just me. I walked over the bed and put the backpack on the bed. I opened it and took out all my clothes(it was pretty much all I had in it except for the exception of my GF). It was packed with clothes(gotta last, ya know?), so I turned it upside-down and dumped 'em all over the bed. Being the bachelor that I am, I just opened the dresser drawers and piled my clothes into them. "I would organize it later," I thought as I threw the last batch of clothes into the bottom drawer. I then walked into the bathroom and turned the shower on.... After taking a shower and putting on some clean clothes, I felt much better. I decided since I really didn't have anything better to do. I grabbed my pistol and GF off the dresser and headed out. Of course I locked the door before I left. I want to keep my clothes, you know! Anyway, I figured I'd better start from the beginning, so I headed towards the gate, which was direct from the port on the other side. I walked into the first building, and glimpsed around. Turns out this was the cafeteria. Not too many people were here now, since it was past eating time for now. There was a group of people at a table in the corner; a dark-haired man with a gunblade, a cowboy, a hyperactive little girl, a dark haired lady sitting next to the man with the gunblade, and a guy with a green tattoo on the side of his face(Little did I know how much of a big impact he would have later on). They seemed to be the only noticable group of people here, all the others were scattered into either groups of two or were singled out. I continued my trek past the tables of the cafeteria, and into the restraunt. "Hm, this is pretty romantic.." I thought. So very little did I know how much of a romantic part this would play later on. It was a nice restraunt, with no lights, only candles to light it. It was pretty dark, but a good dark. There didn't appear to be anybody here right now, but I was sure it would be busy later. I kept on going and I went in another hallway. This one was not very long, and only went one way. I turned right down it, then turned left down another corridor. I made it to a double door, and I opened the left one. Turns out I had walked right into the massive training room. This place was downright HUGE! There were people all over this room, fighting Grats, or even other SeeDs. There was plenty of shooting, slashing, and whipping in this room to make even the toughest man lose his lunch. I however, was used to the slashing, shooting, and whipping, so it never really bothered me. I turned right and followed the wall around the fighting towads the other side of the training room. I soon found myself walking up a short fleet of stairs and back up onto the first balcony(the second floor) in the dormitory building. I walked past about 50 dorms before I reached mine. I opened the door, and plopped down onto the bed. The days happenings and all that sea travel left me tired. "This is a pretty nice place. I think I'll like it here." I said as I closed my eyes and drifted off into a deep sleep. End of Chapter 1 Want to see more of this story? Let me know at KyleJCrb@hotmail.com!
