                                            The Stranger (part 3)

Kerrick sat alone in the conference room under the cockpit of the Ragnarok thinking 
about Angel. A single tear fell from his eye and fell on the photo of his Angel. Angel 
wasn’t her real name, Angel was a name he had called her. Her real name was Gillian, 
a beautiful name he thought for a beautiful person. A faint mist appeared in front of 
him, “Hello Radiant.” He said looking up.
“Kerrick.” She said with a hint of urgency in her voice, “Angel is in great pain.”
“How bad is she?”
“I’m not sure, but she is in pain, she needs you.”
“I’m on my way, we should be in Esthar soon. If you can tell Angel I’ll be there 
soon.” Radiant nodded and vanished.
Just as Radiant vanished Quistis walked in, “Penny for your thoughts Kerrick?” She 
said smiling.
“Hello Quistis.” He replied with a forced smile.
“What’s wrong?”
“Its Angel, she’s in pain. If Odine has done anything to hurt her I will kill him 
myself!”
“It funny that you should say that Angel is in pain, because I have been felling a pain 
in my chest for the last few days.”
“Quistis, can you remember if you had a sister?”
“Not that I can remember, why do you ask?”
“Hmmm… no reason, I guess I’ll find out later.” With that he got up and left.
“What does he mean he’ll find out later?” Quistis thought to herself, then she got up 
and followed him to the cockpit area.

About half an hour later they arrived at Esthar’s presidential palace. Kerrick stormed 
out of the Ragnarok followed by the others. “Kerrick, slow down man.” Shouted Zell 
trying to keep up.
“Yeah Kerrick, wait for us.” Shouted Rinoa.
“Sorry guys, I guess I’m a little pissed off at Odine for taking Gillian without her 
permission!”
“Who’s Gillian?” Asked Selphie confused.
“Angel’s real name.” Said Quistis staring at the palace as if something had triggered 
something in her mind.
“How do you know Quisti?” Asked Rinoa.
“I think I know who Angel is.” With that she followed Kerrick into the building.
“What’s got into her?” Said Squall. Everyone shrugged their shoulders and followed 
Quistis and Kerrick. 

Kerrick marched up to Laguna’s office and threw the doors open, “Where the fuck is 
Odine?!?” He shouted.
“Woah cool it Kerrick!” Said Laguna shocked, “Why do you want to know where Dr. 
Odine is?”
“Cuz that little bastard has been holding the love of my life prisoner for the last 9 
years!”	
“What?”
“I’ll explain later. So where is the git?”
“He’s in his lab.”
“Thanks, you guy’s wait here, Quistis, follow me.”
Quistis looked at Squall, who nodded, then she followed Kerrick to Odine’s lab.

Later, at Odine’s lab, Dr. Odine was pottering about with a large machine, “Vork you 
stupid machine, vork!” The pintsized professor shouted, “Bah! This iz not powerful 
enough! Her powers are to strong!” Just then a voice sounded on the intercom.
“Uhh, Doctor, there’s someone here who needs to see you.”
“Tll them I’m busy.” Odine answered.
“I don’t think they are going to wait!” 
“Verry vell, show zem in.” 
There was a loud bang and the sound of someone coming up the lift followed by 
another bang of the doors behind Odine flying open.
“Hello doctor.” Said Kerrick smiling evilly at Odine.
“Vat do you vant?” Said Odine cowering slightly.
Kerrick drew his gun blade and pointed it at Odine’s neck, “I’ve come for my Angel!”
“Who iz this Angel?” 
“Don’t play dumb with me you little shit.” 
“How dare u speak to Odine in zat vay! You vant to fisty-cuffs?”
Kerrick’s patients was obviously running thin, he grabbed Odine by his collar, lifted 
him off the ground and said, “I don’t have time to fuck about! Now tell me where she 
is!” 
Odine paused for a second, then said, “Down zere, second cell on ze left. Can you put 
me down now?”
Kerrick dropped Odine to the floor, who scampered to the door, then looked to where 
Odine had pointed. There was a huge glass window there. He looked at Quistis and 
smiled, Quistis obviously knew what he was thinking by the worried look on her face. 
Kerrick took a few paces back then ran at the window. He jumped right through it 
sending glass everywhere, he landed without a scratch on him. “Come on Quistis, we 
have to hurry!” He shouted up through the broken window.
“I’m coming!” Quistis shouted back then jumped through the remains of the window.
“Right, this way.” They followed a long corridor then turned left. When they reached 
the cell Odine had spoken of, Kerrivk shouted, “Angel, if your in there, stand away 
from the door!” He raised his gunblade and brought it down on the door pulling the 
trigger as the blade hit the door, blasting it inwards. After the smoke had cleared They 
both stepped into the cell and saw a girl of about 19 with long brown hair and deep 
blue eyes, she looked frightened. 
“Kerrick?” She said, “Is that you?”
“Yes Angel, I’ve come to save you.” He said smiling from ear to ear.
She ran to him and threw her arms around him. With tears streaming down her pretty 
face she said, “I thought I’d never see you again! I thought I’d be stuck here forever!”
“Don’t worry, you’re safe now. I’ve brought two other people that you thought you 
would never see again, your mother, and your sister.” Radiant appeared out of 
nowhere and Quistis stepped out from behind Kerrick.
“Mother? Quisti?” She said crying even more now. Kerrick noticed that both Quistis 
and Radiant were also crying.
“Ahh, I love happy endings.” He said wiping a tear from his eye
“My daughters.” Said Radiant as pearly white teardrops fell from her eyes, “We are 
together again. Now I can tell you what you are. You are both sorceresses, the most 
powerful of your time.” 
“If we are both sorceresses then how come we haven’t been able to use our powers?” 
Asked Quistis wiping her eyes.
“When a sorceress is born a twin and is separated from her sister not long after birth 
her powers will not awaken until she is reunited with her sister. And now you are 
reunited you may use your powers to their fullest and you are ready to fight an 
unspeakable evil which is about to rise.”
“Evil? What evil?” Asked Angel looking scared again.
“It is connected with your past, you will find out soon enough. You must go now, 
there is much to do.” After she finished speaking Radiant began to fade.
“Mother don’t go!” said Angel reaching out to her mother.
“I will not be far.” She said, “I am inside all of you, call on me if you ever need my 
help.” With that she vanished.
“Nice family reunion that.” Said Kerrick who had just managed to stop himself 
crying, “Now its my turn to say something.” He walked to Angel and held both her 
hands, “Gillian, we’ve known each other for a very long time and all that time I had a 
feeling inside me that just wouldn’t go away. In fact, it’s still burning in me now. 
What I’m trying to say is, Angel I love you, I always have and I always will.”
Angel looked at him for a few minutes, smiled and kissed him, “And I love you too.” 
She told him telepathically as they were kissing.
“There you are!” Shouted a high female voice from behind them. They all turned to 
see Selphie, Rinoa, Squall, Irvine and Zell standing in the blasted doorway.
“We were starting to get worried.” Said Zell looking relieved at the sight of his 
friends.
“Nothin to worry about Zell, even if we did run into trouble Radiant would have 
blasted them all away.” Said Kerrick laughing slightly.
“Come on, we’d better move. Odine’s probably raised the alarm by now.” Said 
Squall.
“I wouldn’t worry about that Squall.” Said Kerrick smiling, “I cut the alarm cord 
before I came in.” 
“Smooth move Kerrick my friend.” Said Irvine smiling at the thought of Odine 
hammering on the alarm button and nothing happening.
“Well let’s go anyway, I’m hungry.” Said Zell.
As they all walked out of the lab, Kerrick called Selphie back, “Hey, Sephie, do you 
need any entertainment for Rinoa’s party?” 
“Uhh, kind of. So far we’ve only got the garden’s orchestra.” She said looking 
disappointed
“Hmmm, I have just the thing to liven up the party.”
“And what might that be?”
“You’ll find out.” And he walked after the others.
“Hey! You can’t just leave without telling me! Hey! Kerrick! Ooo, I hate when people 
don’t tell me things!” Then she ran after him.
