Welcome to the sequel of my first fanfic, "Mistake". I was not originally intending on writing a second part, but several people requested that I do so, and looking back, I see there were a few loose ends that needed to be tied. Just a small warning though, there are a few strong words in this fanfic (two to be exact) as well as a semi-graphic rape scene (it's not even "semi" graphic, to be honest, it's as non-graphic as I could make it, but I couldn't think of another word to describe it) so if you think you'd be uncomfortable reading that, I suggest you leave this fanfic alone and check out "Eyes On Me", an extremely good fanfic that can also be found on this site that has no vulgarity whatsoever. Happy reading! ********** "You know I can never get enough of these, really. They're just too good!" Zell said as he stuffed another hot dog into his mouth. Squall sat across the table, his eyes wide in awe. Zell had finished off at least eighteen hotdogs, and it appeared that he wasn't finished yet. Squall couldn't understand it, how could anyone like those things? Made of god knows what kind of animal parts, from god knows what kind of animals. It grossed him out, to be frank. "Squall aren't you gonna have any? Eat up!" Squall looked at Zell's ketchup-smeared face and put his hand up. "No thanks Zell, I lost my appetite when you started eating." Zell scrunched his face up in mock sadness. "I can't help myself. Don't hate me because of my eating habits," he said shakily as he managed to squeeze an alligator tear from his eye. "Aw geeze Zell, don't get upset, I was just kidding." Zell's face turned to normal. "Yeah I know," he said and resumed his eating. After another seven hotdogs Squall finally interjected. "You know Zell, I hate to tear you away from your hotdogs, but I didn't invite you to have lunch with me just so I could watch you make a scene." Zell looked around, food flying off his face. "What are you talking about? I'm not making a-" but before he could finish he noticed several people watching from a distance. Zell's love of hotdogs was known around the Garden, and many people wanted to witness his archaic eating habits first-hand. Seeing that he had an audience, he meekly pushed his plate away and then whipped around to give the people a wicked glare. They looked away, and some even left the cafeteria. "Ya think you could have told me a little sooner, Squall?" Squall tried to hold back his smile but failed. "Sorry Zell." "So, exactly why did you invite me to have lunch with you?" Squall's smile faded and in its place was a look of sadness and shame. "Zell there's something that's been bothering me for a long time. I need to get it off my chest, and you're the only one I can turn to at this point." "Really? Couldn't you talk to Rinoa about it? Or Quistis even? Not like I don't want to hear it or anything, it's just strange that you'd pick me over them." "When I'm done saying what I have to say, you'll understand why going to them isn't the greatest idea at this point." Squall guiltily relayed the story of his and Quistis's encounter, making sure his voice was soft enough that no one else could hear. The last thing he needed right now was this little tidbit of information going around Balamb. Zell listened intently, a look of astonishment growing on his face. "Squall, this is unbelievable! How could you have done that? I mean its Rinoa for god's sake!" "I know that Zell!" Squall hissed, "It's been killing me for weeks, and I just can't seem to able to tell her." Zell shook his head. "I wish I could be able to help you out buddy, but unfortunately I'm not very experienced with women. Maybe you should talk to Irvine. If anyone could help you with girl problems it's him." "I thought of that, but he would most likely tell Selphie, the guy can't keep anything from her, and Selphie would almost definitely tell Rinoa. She's too sweet to keep something like that from her." "Yeah you're right. Well, I guess the only thing I can say is to just swallow you're pride and tell her. It won't be easy, I guarantee it, but if you keep this from her much longer, when you do tell her, the consequences will be ten times greater." Zell looked at his watch and jumped out of his chair. "Shit, I said I'd meet Quistis at the training grounds at 1300 hours and I'm already ten minutes late! I really have to go Squall; I hope everything goes well with Rinoa and you. Good luck!" "Yeah that really helped," Squall said with a sigh. ********** Seifer took a swing at Squall with his sharp blade, but Squall managed to duck the attack and retaliated with a blow to the small of Seifer's back with the flat of his gunblade. Seifer fell forward but quickly picked himself up and was back into a ready stance in no time. Once again he was the first one to make a move, thrusting his sword in the direction of Squall's stomach. Squall of course parried the attack, managing to nick Seifer in the leg. It was a small cut, and Seifer paid no attention to it. The two clashed in the fading sun, dodging and attacking, thrusting and parrying until both were completely out of breath. Seifer had the cut on his leg, and several on both of his arms. Squall too had been injured. A slightly large cut on his chest, plus a few on his arms as well. It had been a good exercise, and the two sat against a large rock, catching their breaths. Ever since Ultimecia's control over Seifer had been defeated, the two SeeDs were on better terms than before. They weren't what one would call enemies anymore, but they most certainly weren't friends. Squall never could trust Seifer, to be honest. He had done to many unforgivable things to earn Squall's trust, but he did try to be as pleasant as possible when he was around Seifer. "So um, Squall. I heard something interesting today." "Oh yeah? What's that?" "Well apparently a certain member of SeeD slept with a certain golden-haired instructor, if you catch my drift." Squall froze. How on earth could he know that? "Where did you hear that nonsense Seifer?" "I think we both know it's not nonsense Squall." "Oh really? And why is that?" "Because I heard it from your own lips." "You bastard! You were listening in on my conversation with Zell weren't you?" Squall stood up and faced Seifer, his eyes on fire. "I wasn't listening in, so to speak, I overheard it is all. It really is a shame though. Have you told Rinoa yet? I'm sure this is something she should know." Squall reached down and grabbed Seifer by the collar. "If you say one word of this to Rinoa, I swear to god I'll kill you." Seifer scoffed and politely removed Squall's hand from his shirt. "Empty threats Squall, empty threats. Well I'd love to stay and chat, but I really must dash. I do wish you the best of luck in telling Rinoa about this little incident, but something tells me that once you break the news, she won't be quite so enthralled with you." Seifer casually walked away, leaving a fuming Squall behind. His teeth were clenched, eyes narrow, and he stood there cracking his knuckles as he glared at the gradually fading figure. This is war, he thought. ********** Rinoa was sitting in the courtyard of Balamb Garden taking in the beauty of the day. The sun was shining but it wasn't hot at all. It was like there was no warmth coming from it, just light. Occasionally a light wind blew through her hair, and she closed her eyes, breathing in the fresh air. There was really nothing to do today. Everybody was busy with their own agenda, which was perfectly fine, except if left Rinoa with nothing else to do but sit in the courtyard and watch people come in and out of the Garden. Suddenly she felt the presence of another person and turned her head to see Seifer sitting next to her. "Oh hi Seifer," she said pleasantly, glad to have company. "Hi Rinoa," he said rather solemnly. Rinoa noticed this. "What's wrong?" she asked. "I'm afraid I have some...disturbing news. It would appear that Squall is not exactly the person you thought he was," Seifer said as he told Rinoa exactly what he had heard Seifer tell Zell in a voice filled with fake sadness, "I wish there was something I could do for you Rinoa." Rinoa just sat staring in front of her. She looked at Seifer for a second and then abruptly said, "Let's take a walk okay?" Inside, Seifer smiled an impish smile, but on the outside his smile was friendly and warm. "Sure Rinoa, what ever you want." ********* Squall was searching frantically through the Garden for Rinoa. He had to find her before Seifer did. If he didn't, things could get ugly. Squall didn't want Rinoa to hear what happened from Seifer, it wasn't fair to her. He caught sight of her entering the Garden through the front gate. He was so happy to see her, but that happiness disappeared as soon as he saw whom she was with. She and Seifer seemed to be engaged in a pleasant conversation. Rinoa was smiling that melting smile of hers, and Seifer continually put his hands on Rinoa. All at once it came to him. That's what Seifer is up to, he thought. It's no secret that he still carries a flame for her, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get close to Rinoa. Suddenly panicked by that thought, he ran up to Rinoa. "Rinoa I really need to talk to you," he said in an urgent tone of voice. Rinoa turned around and without taking her eyes off Squall said, "Excuse me Seifer, but I have some things I need to discuss with Squall. This won't take long." The two walked out of Seifer's hearing range, and Rinoa stared at him for a long time. "You have something you wanna tell me Squall?" she asked. Squall looked to the floor. "Rinoa I-" "Look at me when you talk," she interrupted. He looked up. "So what did Seifer tell you?" "Well you know, basically he said that my beloved slept with some other woman, which is bad enough in itself, but this woman happened to be a friend of his, his ex-instructor to be exact." "Okay Rinoa you need to know that I was totally out of my head when I did it, and it's not like I enjoyed it or anything and-" "Why didn't you tell me Squall?" she interrupted again, "If you had explained to me the situation, I would have accepted it. I wouldn't have been happy with it, of course, but I would have accepted it. But instead you chose to keep this from me, and that's what hurts more than anything." "Rinoa I'm sorry. You can't believe how sorry I am. It was the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life. I would never do something like that to you on purpose, you know that. I love you more than life itself." "Yeah I know that Squall, but the fact is, you did do it, and you kept it a secret as well. I'm sorry Squall, but I need some time to sort stuff out, I think you do too. Call me in a few days okay?" Before Squall even had a chance to reply, Rinoa walked over to Seifer, put her hand on his back, and lead him away. Well that wasn't so bad, Squall thought bitterly. ********** "I'm really sorry things aren't going very well with you and Squall," Seifer said as they made their way to his dorm. "Yeah...yeah I am too." "You know that if you ever need to talk I'm here for you right?" "I know Seifer." Rinoa had been talking with Seifer since he met her in the courtyard. She was doing this for two reasons. One, she did want to talk with Seifer, he was her friend after all, and two, and this was the most important reason, she wanted to make Squall jealous. Rinoa knew it was petty, but it in no way compared to what he had done to her. Maybe he had been drunk, but that didn't change the fact that he had slept with Quistis. Just saying it made her skin crawl. "So do you want to come in for a little bit? There's still a lot to talk about," Seifer said. Rinoa hadn't even noticed that they had reached Seifer's dorm. Seeing no harm in coming in for a few minutes, Rinoa accepted his offer. When they got in, Seifer threw himself down on his bed and let out a deep sigh. "Man I love this bed," he said. He pushed himself onto his elbows and patted the area of bed next to him. "Have a seat." Rinoa was reluctant. Should she really be sitting on Seifer's bed? "Come on," he coaxed, "sit down." She went over to the bed and sat down next to Seifer. "So are you sure you're okay Rinoa? I know the last couple of hours haven't exactly been the easiest for you" he said. "I'm okay," Rinoa replied. Seifer sat up and leaned closer to her. "I hate seeing such a beautiful creature such as you," he said as he caressed her cheek, "being treated so wrong." Before she had a chance to speak, Seifer planted his lips on to hers. Surprised by the sudden advance, Rinoa yelped. She pulled herself away, but Seifer wasn't going to let her get away that easily. He grabbed her arms and pulled her to him, kissing her again. For some reason, Rinoa found herself kissing him back. It was a rough, frenzied kiss, almost painful. Seifer moved his hands down to her chest and started unbuttoning her shirt. He had not planned on making his advances so soon, he was going to wait until she was closer to him, but he could wait no longer. He had been waiting for this too long. Rinoa didn't know why she kissed Seifer, but she did know that she did not want him touching her. This is getting carried away, she thought. Rinoa pulled herself away from Seifer. "I have to go now Seifer, I'm sorry," she said as she got up. She turned around and went to grab the doorknob but was stopped by Seifer's grasp. This time there was no chance of her getting away, his grip was too strong. "Don't leave Rinoa, the fun's just starting." He kissed her yet again. It was another rough kiss, and his teeth scraped against her lip, hurting her. He pushed her onto his bed, holding her down with his strong arms. She tried to scream but he managed to get a hand over her mouth. "I wouldn't do that if I were you," he said in a warning tone of voice. He ripped off the unbuttoned shirt and threw it behind him. Rinoa screamed again, and this time when he put his hand over her mouth, she sunk her teeth into his hand so far that she could taste blood in her mouth. This earned her a backhand across the face. Now not only did she have Seifer's blood in her mouth, but also blood pouring out from her nose. He lifted up her skirt, pushing the material up to her waist. Rinoa's eyes widened with the realization of what he was going to do. In a sudden burst of energy she began kicking and thrashing wildly, trying to make as much noise as possible. She knew she couldn't get away, but maybe someone would hear their struggle. "Shut the hell up," Seifer said, and hit her in the face again. Rinoa could feel her eye swelling up already, but she couldn't just lie there and let Seifer have his way with her. She continued to fight him, and yet again she was rewarded with another backhand. Rinoa's burst of adrenaline was wearing thin, and she knew that she couldn't continue to fight much longer. Seifer, seeing Rinoa's energy nearly gone, unzipped his pants and in one swift movement, entered Rinoa. Rinoa cried out in pain. She had never been with anyone before, and this is not how she pictured her first time. This can't be happening, she thought. She wanted Squall to save her from this disgusting experience, and was soon sobbing tears of terror and panic. "Come on Rinoa," Seifer said evilly, "This is what you've always wanted, you know it." Suddenly the door of Seifer's room flew off its hinges and landed in several pieces on the floor. There standing in the door, his gunblade ready, stood Squall. "Squall help me!" Rinoa screamed through her tears. .He pulled Seifer off Rinoa and lifted her up off the bed. "Get out of here Rinoa!" Squall yelled. She went to the door, but didn't go through it. Instead she threw herself into a corner, watching. Seifer was on the ground, a scowl on his face, while Squall stood in a ready stance, his gunblade in his hands. "You have three seconds to explain what you were doing before I rip your fucking head off," Squall said viciously. Seifer got to his feet, still scowling, and said, "I was just having a little fun Squall, that's all. I mean, she was practically begging for it" "Wrong answer," Squall spat. He drew his gunblade up and brought it down lightning fast, across Seifer's left arm. He staggered back as blood poured out of the wound. "Would you like to try again?" Squall asked. Seifer looked up at him. "Fuck off," he said venomously. "Wrong again," Squall said, and brought the gunblade down across Seifer's right arm. He fell backwards and landed up against the wall, a pool of blood surrounding him. He tried to speak but passed out from the loss of blood. The blood began to stop pounding in his ears, and Squall could hear whimpering from behind him. He turned around and saw his sweet Rinoa huddled in a corner, crying. Squall dropped his gunblade and stood staring as he she stood up and slowly walked towards him. When they reached each other they embraced, and fell to their knees, kissing, ignoring the blood pooling at their knees. Rinoa buried her head into Squall's chest and let out all of her tears. "Shhh," he soothed, "It's okay. I'm here now," he said as he hugged her. "I forgive you Squall," Rinoa said looking up at him. Squall looked at Rinoa's face, which was now red from the blood and tears, a large bruise on her cheek and felt water forming in his eyes. "Oh Rinoa," Squall said as he let the tears he had been holding in flow down his face, "I'm so, so, sorry." He sat there with a trembling Rinoa, comforting her the best he could, blood around them, with the limp body of Seifer Almasy lying in the corner. ********** Rinoa looked around the Quad, searching. Eventually her eyes caught a glimpse of gold, and she knew she had found who she had been looking for. Rinoa walked up to Quistis who was sitting on a bench reading a book. She walked up to the instructor, and sat down next to her. "Hi Quistis," Rinoa said. Taken by surprise, Quistis jumped a little bit. "You scared me Rinoa." "Sorry." "Don't worry about it." Quistis wanted to ask how Rinoa was feeling, but Squall had told her not to bring up the rape issue, and she didn't blame him. Rinoa was going through emotional turmoil, and she didn't need to be constantly reminded of that horrible day. I wonder if Squall told her about what happened between us, she thought. Probably not, I mean she has enough on her plate "So Rinoa, how are things with-" "I know Quistis," Rinoa interrupted. "What do you mean?" "I mean, I know what happened with you and Squall." "You...you do?" Rinoa nodded her head. "Yeah. And I just want you to know that I don't hate you." "You don't?" "No...I understand the circumstances. That doesn't mean that I'm condoning it, or that I'm okay with it yet, but...I'm still your friend." "You have no idea how wonderful that makes me feel," Quistis said with a smile, "So things are okay with you and Squall?" "Yeah, things are okay. It's going to take some time to heal, and Squall's been very patient." Quistis smiled. "I bet." "Well Quistis, I just wanted to come to talk to you. I know you probably haven't been feeling the greatest either, but I know that in time, things will be back to the way they used to be." "Okay, Rinoa." Quistis watched as she walked away. She'll be okay, she thought. At least Seifer has been discharged from the Garden. Since he was stripped of his SeeD title, there's no way he'll ever get back into another one. It's a good thing too, otherwise Squall would kill him the first chance he got. Not like I blame him, I would do the same thing. Quistis got up from the bench and lightly stretched. There wasn't much else she could do, except wait. It would be a difficult few weeks, but at least the mistake had been corrected. ********** Well that's it. I realize that this fic doesn't cover as much as the first one did such as other character's relationships, but I really didn't see the need. The whole idea of Ceri and Quistis was my co-author's idea, but since she's no longer in the picture, I didn't feel any desire to pursue a plot I wasn't comfortable with in the first place. If however, you enjoyed that whole thing I could possibly write a fic dedicated to just those two, if I get enough requests. The same thing goes with Irvine and Selphie. Other than that, I think all the loose ends have been tied. I know some people have not been impressed with my fanfic, mainly because it was like a "teen soap opera" and I just wanted to say that I'm sorry this fic doesn't appeal to all readers. In the future I'll try writing one that does. Thanks for reading my fic and if you have any comments or suggestions email me at irvysgurl@hotmail.com.
