FFVII Character Guides Submitted by: Ultima Weapon FFVII Character Guides *This strategy guide for the characters contains some unusual things and contains mostly hints and tips on how to use them. Hope this guide will help you... :-) Characters: (Main) Cloud Strife: 21 Ex-SOLDIER; Mercenary A cold-hearted and rude Ex-SOLDIER mercenary working for Barrett's Eco-team, AVALANCHE. His skillful ability to hold the gigantic and broad Buster Sword is a fatal and lethal skill to possess and his job holds many dangers and so has his past. His past haunts him always, which is probably the reason why he sometimes suffers from a slight lost of memory and why he usually has cruel nightmares plaguing him. He formerly admired and idolized Sephiroth for being such a strong man, until he joined SOLDIER, went back to Nibelheim and lost his home town. He has an overhwhelming friend that goes by the name, Tifa Lockhart, a so beautiful teen like him that has supressed and deep feelings for him yet unrevealed. Cloud has never felt real love before and has only experienced small friendship, pain, agony, sufferings and guilt. His whole life changed when he met Aeris Gainsborough, a lovely flower girl that too fell in love with him at first sight. Cloud learned their real fate was to save the planet when Aeris told him and he totally changed from cold and mean to a warm and determined person. Cloud again suffered a serious heart-ache when Aeris, his love was mercilessly killed by Sephiroth. He survived Mako poisoning and near-death almost three times now and is still as strong as ever. The real strength this man has, is not his spiritiual strenght to withstand any suffering, but his feelings for a woman that keeps him on the go. The real question lies that I believe is still in the heads of many: Who among the two women, gets to have Cloud... Cloud shows us that there is no thing as doomed fate, everyone can change and has a destiny to follow, no matter how many the sufferings and pains brought... Aeris Gainsborough: 22 Flower Girl; Last Ancient Cloud's famous lovelife that keeps him alive and strong. Aeris was once a poor flower girl selling beautiful flowers in the slums until she met Cloud and changed her status. Aeris found out that she was more than normal when the Turks kidnapped her and tried to experiement with her for the reason of being the 'Last Ancient.' Cloud rescued her from the hands of Shinra, which I think is the main reason why she loves Cloud even some more. Aeris once had a cool boyfriend by the name, Zack that looks a lot like Cloud. Aeris has high hopes and intentions to be with Cloud, but suddenly sank when she found out her true intention. Aeris is a woman of few words, acts alertly and is sweet and still naive. Aeris is kinda strange and her death remains a mystery to the team, especially when she lost Holy and the team panicked. Aeris was the most loved member in the group, she was fond of all the members and respected each and everyone of them. Aeris thinks of Tifa as a close friend and usually tries to be very friendly to her vene though Tifa sometimes gets jealous of her. Aeris treates Red XIII like a pet dog and usually pets him, which usually annoys Red but also enjoys it. Barrett, though so tyrant and violent easily copes up with Aeris. One word to describe Aeris: Woman.Though Aeris has died and was lost probably forever, she shows us that eternal and true love never fades away and always remains sturdy and strong. It never dies, even when everything is totally lost. Aeris's love stayed with the team, and saved them... Tifa Lockhart: 20 AVALANCHE Member Might seem a little like a seducer and a deceit, but very kind, gentle and soft-hearted from the inside. Tifa is sexy, very pretty and loves Cloud so much. She's probably the sexiest FF character Square has created and there's no doubt that lots of fans especially guys like her a lot and remain faithful to Miss Beautiful. Tifa has deadly martial arts techniques and there;s no doubt that she's as strong as Cloud and as deadly when it comes to her enemies. Tifa might seem a pretty bit of immature, aloof and an envious type, but she's very considerate, she's gentle and kind-hearted. Honestly I think Tifa will make a very good lover, a good wife and the best mother to any man's family, a man that has her is more than lucky not because she has such impressive busts, slick legs and a great waist, but because Tifa has what it takes to love a man. Tifa can give up her life for anyone she loves, she makes a good and fashionable leader and she's also as sweet as Aeris, but younger and can sometimes be too juvenile and hot-tempered. Tifa is the only member in the group that knows Cloud a lot. Imagine her, being a childhood friend of Cloud, being slashed by Sephiroth and left for dead, following Cloud wherever he goes... Tifa must have met danger and adventure all her life and there's no stopping this energetic teen. Tifa is an assuring person and the no. 1 thing she wants to assure herself of? It's Cloud. Tifa proves to us that there are more things to friendship than there is to love. A true friend can love another as if they were brothers or sisters, or as if they were to be married. Nothing can go in between two secured friends, and nothing is ought to break Tifa's friendship from Cloud... even if it means her dearest life... Barrett Wallace: (Middle-aged) AVALANCE Leader Never ever mistake this man for being a brute, a tyrant and a #%$&@( whooper. Barrett is a considerate and brave leader, and a good father. The only problem with him is his past too, when his loved home town, Corel was burned to nothing in the ground by Shinra and his wife lost. Barrett adopted Marlene, his bestfriend's daughter and treated her as his own daughter and loved her dearly. One thing's for sure to this big daddy, he has a weak side of himself: his inner self that is the key in keeping him from busting inside Shinra and shooting everyone dead with his mighty gun-arm. A true leader and a bossy type too, but cares for his members and grieved the lost of his comrades, Jessie, Biggs and Wedge in the avalanche. Barrett knows nothing about Materia, but is excellent in his brutal techniques and anyone who has angered him (except Cloud) has had a very bad beating! Barrett has joined in with the many experiences of Cloud and the others, but he has never really learned the true value of 'Fantasy' and 'Magic' instead he still has gun-arm to show him that he leaves through technology. Barrett proves to us that their are some times too much of violent and mean friends with really a hyper attitude and a berserk rage, yet amidst those things, another true friend has a heart of gold... Red XIII: 48 (16) Shinra Research Specimen The research specimen that can talk and knows a (heck) lot of knowlegde about the plnaet with the help of his old grandfather, Bugenhagen. Red XIII was once a Shinra member that was used for researches and experiments until found the chance to escape through Aeris and Cloud's party. Red XIII has helped Cloud and the others in terms of everything and is still a loyal, faithful and reliable member of the group. Though at the age of 48, Red XIII (Nanaki) is 16 for a human age yet has the heart and soul of a guardian and wisdom. Red XIII lives in Cosmo Canyon or was born in Cosmo Canyon through his mother, and the great warrior Seto whom Red cursed a before knowing the truth. Red XIII is a silent warrior, but quick, agile and a great Materia user that's secondary choice to Aeris or Vincent. Take my advice and go for it, Red XIII is a useful member from the start... till up to... (heck not the end!) Red XIII has also knowledge about the Cetras and Ancients and is a sole reason for him to have been involved in the great wars years back and why he is also a vital character related briefly to Sephiroth and Aeris and the weapons. Red XIII tell us all one thing: Not all youths are juvenile, hot-tempered and too cocky, some like him have indeed wise knowledge and great widsom to guide lost souls and to light dark stars. Yuffie Kisaragi: 16 Thief Miss I-love-Materia is an annoying little teenage brat with a sick humor of trapping her comrades and stealing Materias from the team. Yuffie is the daughter of (great) Godo from Wutai yet seeing her hometown's dullness and lack of life, Yuffie ventures out to the wilds and to the outside world to track and find Materia to liven up her fellows. Yuffie may be a snot and a thief, but she's really an honest little girl that knows when to stop fooling around and when to get serious. A common fault about Yuffie is her (too) lively attitude like being too youthful, too energetic, too honest, too naive, too childish and too stealer. With Yuffie's large and graceful Shuriken, Yuffie provides great help to Cloud's team not to mention her nausea and her beinga wimp and a coward when facing Sephiroth. Yuffie meets Cloud when they bump into her in the woods and she steals some GIL from Cloud, but eventually returns it back after she joins in the team. Many say that the main reason for Yuffie's participation is that she just wants to get her hands on Materia and steal them when the timing's right, actually it's not that at all! Yuffie wanted to join with Cloud and LIKES to go along with them coz she wants to tell everyone that she's also useful as a thief mentioning that she's stolen heck a lot of items from various enemies and foes. One thing that we all find in Yuffie's character is that youth today sure have itchy hands! Cait Sith: ??? Mascot/Reeve Even though funny and stupid looking, this big mog-like creature-mascot is really a spy from Shinra controlled and operated mainly by Reeve. Cait Sith joins in with Cloud to spy for Shinra after knowing about the Temple of the Ancients and wanting a chance to sneak up and snitch the key. When Cloud leaves for his very first date (either with Tifa, Yuffie or Aeris) the rotten tricky mascot snatches the key stone from thin air and tries to escape but is caught red-handed by Cloud. The huge mascot later on forces Cloud and the team to leave and go to the Temple for Marlene's sake who is in the hands of Shinra. But what this mascot doesn't see is that his harsh and cold actions will later on play his major self in saving the planet. Reeve and Cait Sith later on finds out that they too must aid Cloud in saving the planet and they make their noble sacrifices to defeat Sephiroth and even their own boss, Shinra Corp. Cait Sith tells us all important morals: You can nevr judge a book by its cover. Vincent Valentine: 27 Ex-Turk; Vampire A former Turk working for Shinra in a special mission in Nibelheim until transformed by gast and Hojo into a weird and horrible vampire that changes into anything he desires. Vincent, though has a holy name, symbolizes darkness and fear from the light (heck like sealing himself inside a coffin!) Vincent has slept for about a lot of years down the basement until he was forced to join Cloud's group to find Hojo and Lucrecia. Vincent, from a sweet, innocent life with a lovely woman to love was shockingly made into a cold, dark and demonic life despite his suffering and pains everyday. Vincent doesn't suffer from his monstrous form, the main reason he suffers pain everyday is because he failed to save his precious Lucrecia from harm. Despite his coldness through and through, he still has little warmth inside him though few is known of him. Vincent continues to search for Lucrecia and Hojo and to pay them back for what they've done. The moral here is that no matter how good our lives already are, anything may happen... Cid Highwind: (Middle-Aged) Pilot The bad-mouthed pilot with an attitude. This blabber-mouth has a warm heart though, he was saves his Shera from the bowels of inferno by stopping his beloved space project. Cid dreams of soaring the stars and being in space one day. Cid meets Cloud when he escapes from Rufus through the tiny bronco with Cloud and they crash down the sea hard, he discovers his fate is being with Cloud. A man who knows much about battle tactics, machinery and even Materia and is a well-balanced character with great stats no matter how you use him and raise him. Cid was once nominated leader when Tifa had to sit with Cloud and help him regain consciousness from the coma by traveling down the Lifestream with him. Cid is also a talented man with skills with the spear, though he is so bossy. Cid knows when to cooperate and despite himself always saying mean and harsh words to all, he cooperates without question. Cid always wanted to get the airship back from Rufus, and guess what, he got it back and got his spirit back! Cid traveled back to his loved space with Cloud and Shera and tried to stop meteor but failed. A really funny lesson here is that the more a person annoys you... the more he ADORES you!!! ;-) Sephiroth: ??? Villain Ancient The most wicked FF character in the game that possess intense evil and pure Ancient blood from the Hojo and Lucrecia. Sephiroth mya be Vincent's brother or a relative... how??? Lucrecia is Sephiroth's mom and Vincent is Lucrecia's sweetheart and we all know that Hojo has something to do with Vincent... So back to Sephiroth... Sephiroth is a very funny character in the game, not only does he act weird and talk weird, but his clothing too. Sephiroth I think isn't really the evil inside the planet, it's Jenova that controls Sephiroth with Jenova Cells. When Sephiroth was still young, he was very talented and very strong to face fears and his worst nightmares until he found out that he was a Jenova project himself and lost it and went on a killing streak. Sephiroth is probably the best villain FF has to offer that ties with Kefka and Ultimecia coz they're all wicked, cruel and twisted in thinking. Sephiroth is a savior??? Dunno but we all think not.. but why the heck has he wings and why did he look so much like an angel when we fought him??? You figure that out... Character Stats: Cloud: what can I say about this guy? As far as I know, Cloud sweeps up everyone in... everything!!! Cloud's fast, good in Magic, tough and reall strong on his limits. Cloud deserves to be the leader of the group since even beginners and amateurs know how to use him since he's so simple to use unlike Tifa or Cait Sith... Cloud is both good either from the front or back, a medic, a sorcerer or as a normal attacker. Aeris: the weakest and puniest physical attacker (isn't it darn obvious!) in the entire system. Aeris causes only about 1/4 of Cloud's normal attack and 1/5 of Barrett's normal attack, but check her out when she's far better than anyone as a medic and as a sorcerer. Aeris is best used at the back to cure the team either with Materia, Items or her defensive limits. Aeris has the highest Magic status (depends on how you use her) Give Aeris Magic Sourcesn and lots of Magic raisers especially Materia! Tifa: the female character that's second strongest in the game tying either Barrett or Cloud in both limits and physical attacks. Tifa has a big error since she might be a little low on her Magic and Spirit compared to Barrett or Cid. Tifa's limit breaks suck sometimes when you're not that good in playing her, but take this and get lots of Luck Sources and Speed Sources and even Power Sources for Tifa and keep on boosting her up. When you've got high enough luck and speed, you'll get every limit easily that can cause almost up to a 70,000 HP damage! Barrett: obviously a slowpoke and a nutty guy who's zero in his Materia. Correct! Barrett is a lot better with a few or no Materia at all since it weakens him in battle, his limits are devastating and his attitude? Scary!!! A hunk with only one thing to do: Attack and Destroy the enemy! Red XIII: another well-balanced character but sucks in his LAST limit break that isn't effective when fighting weapons, the Proud Clod or other HP monsters. Red XIII is good on both Magical and Physical offense, but trust me on raise only a 3 characters or 4 in the entire game so you'll master the characters. (I require Cloud, Tifa, Barrett/Cid and [Aeris-up to disc 2] Then raise Red XIII and the others in the Northern Cave when you've maxed out your levels, it's easy since they level up too unlike VIII. Yuffie: a snot but fast, agile and good on Magic and Spirit. Yet Yuffie is irritating with her limits since they all have not much variety, and they're mostly magic like her Clear Tranquil and Landscaper. Yuffie stinks in her last limit too so don't raise her too much and stick with the three I mentioned earlier. Cait Sith: a lousy fool and I believe that most players find him not so cool until you get his LAST limit at Limit 3, but it's hard! Not much to say here, but Cait Sith is okay in all stats except his attack and his weak. His Limit 1 skill is fantastic though, but once you get the others' further limits Cait Sith will prove useless. Vincent: many adore this guy but let me object peacefully and I don't intend any offense here so don't blame me! Vincent is very good with his limits, he's so strong indeed but once you reach the ending parts of Discs 2 and 3, Vincent will prove weak if you compare him with Cloud, Barrett and Cid's last limits. Vincent is best at the back like Yuffie and Barrett but he's physically weak too and not so tough, so give him a Champion Belt or something to boost his attacks. Cid: a good guy with lots of positive status except his luck. He has strong limits (almost all related to Dragons) and they all have variety. Cid is a good player to raise along with Barrett or Tifa and Cloud. He's good frok start till end especially with his last limit. LImits: To my observations this is what I've seen: Best Final Limits: 1 Cloud 2 Barrett 3 Cid 4 Great Gospel (Cool!) 5 Final Heaven (If you use it with the others) 6 Chaos 7 Cait Sith's last limit (I forgot how they call it) :-( 8/9 All Creation/Cosmo Memory Best Characters: 1 Cloud 2.5 Tifa 2.5 Barret 4 Cid 5 Vincent 6 Red XIII 7 Aeris? 8 Yuffie 9 Cait Sith :-( Character Limits II: First of all, here's a small tip on how to grow limits that's very handy wfor Aeris since you can only use her for a limited time: Limit 1a: Already learned (heck) Limit 1b: Use limit 1a 8 times on different enemies. Limit 2a: Kill 80 enemies. Limit 2b: Use limit 2a 6 times on different enemies. Limit 3a: Kill 80 enemies (again?!) Limit 3b: Use limt 3a 5 times on different enemies. Limit 4: Find in different sections: The limit 4 Locations I'll post a little later... Cloud Strife Limits: Limit 1: Braver- Cloud's simplest limit that is only twice his normal attack but useful sometimes. An ordinary limit with an ordinary skill. Cross-Slash- a cool attack but similar to the Braver. The only thing different with this is that it stops or paralyzes the enemy. Useful for bosses. Limit 2: Blade Beam- a powerful limit that is three times stronger than Cloud's normal attack and it also affects the other enemies but with only 1/8 damage. Handy for parties and probably against the Turks when they're together. Climhazzard- a strong attack that looks nasty when Cloud stabs the enemy. This is a little stronger than the Blade Beam, but stick to Blade Beam when you're fighting groups. Useful on bosses and single opponents than the Blade Beam. Limit 3: Meteorain- a powerful limit that attacks 2-4 enemies 4-5x damage. If you ask me and I believe almost everyone, this is Cloud's second strongest limit and better than the Finishing Touch. Useful on parties, bosses and single foes. Finishing Touch- this limit sucks and you'd better stick with Meteorain coz it kills a lot too. This is probably one of Cloud's suckiest limit break. Why? Well when you're fighting off enemies, the meteorain should probably wipe 'em all out since it's so strong. Besides, this limit break doesn't work on bosses and mini-bosses and causes only damage ONCE. Got my point? Limit 4: Omnislash- the strongest limit in the entire FFVII system that is ultra evil and wicked in both parties, bosses especially when the enemies' vitality is low. To use this more effectively and better, max out Cloud's attack and give him lots of Power Sources and also try to max out his luck for better results. If you do this like 180+ Strength and max attack with the Ultima Weapon and 200+ luck, you'll end up with 28 slashes and ensured 9999 HP damage better than the Leonheart and Catastrophe. Cool! Aeris Gainsborough Limits: Limit 1: Healing Wind- always useful from the start to the end since it restores 3/4 of your HP no matter how strng or weak you are, it's good even if you have the Cure Materia and Full Cure Materia. Seal Evil- another effective move from start to the end, even when you have the Time Materia and Seal Materia with you, it's hard to use it. Very effective to use with the Cross-Slash then a good starter for an attacking streak. Limit 2: Breath of the Earth- a corny but also a handy move since it act likes an Esuna with attached All Materia, but trust me and when you get Aeris's following limits, don't use this too often. Tifa Lockhart Limits: Limit 1: Beat Rush- Tifa's normal limit break and stinks when you only develop this and no other since you can miss it sometimes (even though I've never tried) This is only as strong as Tifa's normal attack but sometimes adds some more power and twice when Yeah. Somersault- another of Tifa's combos that is twice her normal damage and thrice when clicked on Yeah. Tifa becomes a little better than the rest here and she can cause double damage on her Limit 1, not bad. Limit 2: Water Kick- non-elemental but as strong as the Somersault but when highlighted Yeah, it delivers twice stronger and four times as Tifa's normal attack. Tifa now is one of the best limit breakers here, that's why she's so good. Meteodrive- I hate to admit this, but this along with the Meteor Strike sucks since there are lots of Misses and few Yeahs on the slots. This is super strong though and when you get this along with the rest, Tifa delivers four damage. Limit 3: Dolphin Blow- the third strongest limit break that is almost as good as Final Heaven but has less misses and a bit weaker. You hardly miss this one and the Yeahs come often, so when you Tifa has high strength, this causes 9999 HP damage. Meteor Strike- a powerful attack and easily triggers a 9999 HP damage when highlighted Yeah but also as dumb as Meteodrive and there are more chances of yourself getting a Miss. Limit 4: Final Heaven- strong but also dumb sometimes since the Misses are coming out in streaks and you can hardly spot a Yeah or Hit, but raise your luck to as high as possible like 120+ and you'll see that there's 85% chance of you getting Hits and 50% chance of you getting Yeahs than Misses, it's really cool and Tifa gets to be more effective with her limits. Barrett Wallace Limits: Limit 1: Big Shot- okay, as usual similar to the Boost Jump, Greased Lightning and Braver and only causes twice Barrett's normal attack power. This is triggered mostly by your weapon and strength, so raise your strength (same goes for Cloud's Omnislash, Braver, Cross-Slash etc.) Mind Blow- as it sounds, it's so easy to know that it erases MP. This limit is only effective in Disc 1 before the Magic Hammer since this only causes MP damage and probably minimum HP damage. It's good to use on MP fighters to turn them into bad-ass losers! Limit 2: Grenade Bomb- like Cid's Dynamite, this attacks all enemies and is also decided by your weapon and strength. No comment here except that it's better than the Hammerblow and Finishing Touch, this is twice stronger than Barrett's normal attack. Hammerblow- the worst limit in the game since it only works on non-bosses and causes NO damage on bosses and only on 1 enemy. Trust me and stick with Grenade Bomb since limit breaks can't miss or be avoided except by Cactuars and some other enemies. Limit 3: Sattelite Beam- okay, starting this limit Barrett starts to get cooler and more impulsive. This is better than the Grenade Bomb since it can't miss easily like 98% chance of hitting and it is thrice Barrett's attack power. This won't depend on your weapon or strength, but it's still cool. Ungarmax- totally cool because like the Meteorain, Barrett's damages come on repeats like he shoots on all enemies from 5-8x damage or less. It's really cool and can be compared with Cloud's devastating limits since Barrett is second or third strongest on his limits. Limit 4: Catastrophe- totally this spells out D-E-A-D for all enemies! This is so cool and it depends on Barrett's strength which means when you have a strong Missing Score (I'll tell you how to use it later) and high Strenght, max attack and good luck, this causes ensured 9999 HP damage from about 18-24x. (I think, I didn't try counting much) It's second best from the Omnislash and great on enemy parties or the weapons or the Proud Clod and other enemies. Red XIII Limits: Limit 1: Sled Fang- okay, similar to the Big Shot and Braver and also decided by Red's strength or attack and weapon so you can raise this attack higher. This is twice Red XIII's attack but sometimes stronger. Lunatic High- effective only before Time Materia since it only casts Haste on your party and elevates the defense % greatly making you almost invincible! (Use it only once) Limit 2: Blood Fang- a strong attack similar to the Sled Fang but drains 1/8 HP and MP, I think this is also used better with a strong attack and weapon. Useful and totally equal with Cid's Dragon. Stardust Ray- wow! Gotta hand this to Red XIII, this is the strongest Level 2 limit in the entire FFVII system and it's better than the Cosmo Memory or All Creation. This causes several medium damages as strong as Red XIII's normal attack from 25-28x but looks shorter since the damage pile quickly on all enemies. Limit 3: Howling Moon- sucks and you know why? Simply use your haste Materia on your allies.self and use the Berserk from Mystify Materia, as simple as that. Red XIII grpws stronger and faster for the entire battle but also has some errors since you can't control him anymore. Earth Rave- good but Stardust Ray is a lot better since this only damages twice stronger than Red's normal attack 5x or 6x. Raise Red's attack when you want to stick with this. Limit 4: Cosmo Memory- by its name you can say it's like mega-awesome and radically cool, wrong! The special effects I can tell ya is cool and square did a great job here portraying the galaxies and fireball, but the destructive damage is only a SINGLE 9999 on all enemies! Stick with Red's Stardust Ray or Earth Rave man... Yuffie Kisaragi Limits: Limit 1: Greased Lightning- this isn't special at all since it's so like Big Shot, Boost Jump, Braver and Sled Fanf and it's decided by the attack and weapon. Clear Tranquil- like Aeris's Healing Wind this restores 3/4 HP of the whole party and this is always effective since Yuffie can be both a healer and an attacker. Nice. ;-) Limit 2: Landscaper- a powerful attack that's like Grenade Bomb, but isn't decided by Yuffie's attack or weapon and this is Earth elemental and can be drained by Earth drainers. Be safe and use the Bloodfest though its weaker. Bloodfest- a great limit break that causes damage multiple times in sets and against all enemies. It's weaker than Yuffie's normal attack though by a half, but for all the damages it's so strong too. Decided by the attack and weapon like Greased Lightning. Limit 3: Gauntlet- this is so similar to Barrett's Sattelite Beam and they even have the same special effects made by square, or have the slightest differences. This is non-elemental and cannot be avoided so it's better than Landscaper. This is thrice Yuffie's normal attack against all enemies. Doom of the Living- this is similar to the Bloodfest but it's better since Yuffie attacks at normal strength here and this is decided by her attack strength and weapon. A good strategy here is to paralyze the enemy first like the Cactuars to make this 100% sure and then give Yuffie a strength of 180+ and a max attack with her Conformer to make this totally devastating! Limit 4: All Creation- corniest last limit since it only causes 9999 HP damage but has good effects but runs lower than Red's Cosmo Memory. If I were you, I'd learn this limit since it's required if you want to master the game but stick with Yuffie's Doom of the Living. Cait Sith Limits: Limit 1: Dice- this is a good Limit 1 limit and can be best too depends on your luck. This damage is caused randomly and can max to a 5400 HP damage I think, the best Limit 1 skill. Limit 2: Slots- a cool limit and always handy from start til end grows fast too for a Limit 2. Here are a few things that I know about this and they might sound weird but since I rarely use Cait Sith (even though he's at Level 99 like the rest) I don't know how to use this much: Slot Effects: Mog- a cute li'l mog will cast Full Cure on the whole party or restores 3/4 HP whichever. Toy Box- random effects but all cause severe damage that maxes to a 9999, not bad. Transformation- this stinks since your 2 other guys disappear and Cait Sith grows, so what? Death- a bad limit since it kills all of you and it's instant game over... :-( Win- opposite of the above and only works on non-bosses :-) Limit 3: Okay, I didn't actually get this but there are over a hundred people who claim that they've already seen it and got it. I thought it was still crazy made-up rumors like Aeris's revival, a different FMV or new midis but this one's SOLID TRUE! But since it's so hard to get, only few get it and I'm not one of them :-( Vincent Valentine Limits: Limit 1: Galian Beast- okay this is a cool limit like the others and Vincent has really a fantastic limit from 1 to 4 but he'll lose his effectiveness when you gain Omnislash, Catastrophe and Highwind. This is a horned blue beast and it looks like a Behemoth but smaller: Berserk Dance- a strong physical attack twice Vincent's strength. There are more chances of him doing this. Beast Flare- a fire elemental attack and can gain enemies lives so be careful especially on the Materia Keeper! This is powerful about 75% stronger than Vincent's attack. Limit 2: Death Gigas- a duplicate of Frankenstein and looks a little 'nuttier.' This also increases Vincent's usual HP by about a half so it's nice and I also forgot to tell you this: 1) When Vincent transforms his HP restores fully, so it's best to use limits when you're in critical health. 2) You lose perfect control on Vincent when he transforms and anything done to him is lost. 3) A good strategy is to cast Haste and Regen on Vincent while he's a monster so he'll be totally strong! Giga Dunk- a powerful move and is thrice stronger than Vincent's normal attack. Livewire- this is thunder elemental so don't use it on thunder elemental enemies and the Black Dragons coz they nullify it. This is so strong I can't exactly measure the damage from Vincent's normal attack basis. Limit 3: Hellmasker- I didn't know this but many crazy things have been going in on this FF system like this one. This is an exact duplicate of Jason from [Halloween] and this guy has a chainsaw, but the thing that sucks here is that this guy doesn't increase Vincent's HP. Splatter Combo- continuous attacks damage based on a multiple by 9 and a lot strong. Nightmare- as it sounds, it casts every single abnormality in the system at the enemies. Sometimes sucks though when the enemies' are able to resist this. Limit 4: Chaos- this guy is Vincent's best form and it's so strong it can cause serious damage on bosses but isn't needed for the weapons since it could be killed. A demon like creature that looks like Diablos from VIII. Chaos Saber- this is strong and this four times stronger than Vincent's normal attack so this is good and it hits all enemies but easily misses on an enemy. - a giant skull rises from the ground and causes damage to all land enemies then unleashes hell fumes that also damage again even air opponents! Cid Highwind Limits: Limit 1: Boost Jump- it's so obvious that FFT copied the Lancer from Cid coz the Lancers symbolized a dragon and they jump, well... Cid' limits are about jumping and dragons except his last one. This is twice stronger than Cid's normal attack like most Limit 1 starters. Dynamite- like Barrett's Grenade Bomb this is as strong as the Grenade Bomb and as effective too, but the difference is that this Limit 1 and easier to acquire and gain. Limit 2: Hyper Jump- again like the Dynamite but the difference is that this sometimes adds instant death to any opponent, but not to a mini-boss or boss. Dragon- this is only best used if your low on HP/MP and not for offensive attacks, mainly on defensive that's why it's almost as weak as a normal attack. This is so similiar to Red's Blood Fang and drains 1/8 HP and MP from the target. Limit 3: Dragon Dive- this is strong and so cool on the effects and best used on a single opponent than a group. This is like Cloud's Meteorain but this one is decided by Cid's weapon and attack strength, but this only hits from 7-8x or less. Good on a boss too. Big Brawl- this is a good attack but this only attacks a single opponent but is very like Yuffie's Doom of the Living. The damage is piled quickly and Cid does a lot of hits so don't try to count the damages, this is decided by your attack and weapon. Limit 4: Highwind- third strongest limit in the game when Cid unleashes all his Highwind rockets that pile up damage so quickly at all enemies from 30-36 rockets I think coz I can barely count 'em! The damage isn't decided by your attack, weapon or any stat but if you're at max level, the damage may range from 3000-5000 or possibly 6000! Try this limit against the weapons... Cloud's Flashback (Disc 2) This is so easy to gain but if you still don't know this... After Tifa awakens Cloud from his brief coma and Cloud becomes the leader again... go back to the Shinra Mansion in Nibelheim and head down the library (where Sephiroth threw the Materia at you) There should be a short story line about Zack and Cloud after Sephiroth's attack. Aeris Spirit??? (Disc 3?) Okay this might sound a little of the record and like a false tale... but in Disc 3 (this is where I found her) head back to Midgar at any time or after you've gone to the crater and enter the church. When you first enter, there would be two children as usual but ANOTHER figure will start to flash that looks a lot like Aeris in the flower garden. This is only done once and be fast when you want to see her... (I'm not sure 'bout this, but I've done it thrice!) ;-) Dates: (Disc 1) Date Tifa: Never ever use Aeris unless it is needed and Tifa should be the one to appear to Cloud when at the Gold Saucer, coz when you use Aeris even just a few times she'll be the one to go out on a date and I know most want Tifa! Also, try to be too mean to Aeris like when Aeris talks to you about Tifa, tell here she is your girlfriend and she should feel pretty upset... Go to Gongaga and when the parents talk to you about Zack, comfort Tifa. Date Aeris: Use Aeris always and be so mean to Tifa and don't use her much or don't even use her! When at the Golden Saucer, Aeris should date Cloud instead of Tifa or Yuffie. Aeris's appearing has more chances than Tifa's or Yuffie's. Date Yuffie?: Okay, this is really simple but you'll have to go through the pain of not using Tifa or Aeris for the entire game until Yuiffe dates Cloud. Here's how to do it or some hints: - When at Midgar, don't take Tifa's drink; when at Reactor 5, tell that you can't hold on; everytime Tifa talks to Cloud, answer the mean one or rude one or don't even talk to her! - When you first get to meet Aeris (after Reactor 1) tell her that nothing's wrong and don't buy a flower from her; when you see her again in the church, don't tell her you remember here on tell here she was the Slumdrunk and that should upset here. When Aeris is being chased by the guy (forgot his name) wait for a while and don't come to her rescue for a while; when at the boat, tell Aeris that there's no hope for her to be able to ride the airship. - Always choose Yuffie to go with you, don't take her when she doesn't want to and when at the boat, give her a tranquilizer. Date Barrett: Simple, don't use Tifa or Aeris unless needed, don't even talk to them or be very mean to them. When you arrive later at Kalm, Barrett will ask Cloud out. (Yuck!!!) :-0 Best Limits: Omnislash for Cloud: (Disc 1, 2, 3) Win 32,000 BP at the Golden Saucer. It's kinda hard but wear a Ribbon and be sure you're fit so it would be easier, I got this in Disc 1!!! ;-) Great Gospel for Aeris: (Disc 1) You can also get this in Discs 2 or 3, but what the heck is the use when Aeris is gone?!?! Take your buggy all the way to the eastern island and find a cave south of Chocobo Farm (not the one in the swamps) Talk the the old man and there are more chances he'll ignore you. To make him talk to you, make sure you last digits are doubled like 233, 188 etc. When he gives you the Bolt Ring, go to the house east of Gold Saucer and find the man who makes weapons but lacks sources. Go back to the man and get in fights again or when your last digits are double again and he'll give you the Mythril that you should give to the man in the house. Choose the small box and tada, the Great Gospel is there! (This is probably the hardest limit to gain harder than the Omnislash! But it's worth it...) Final Heaven for Tifa: (Disc 2 or 3) After Cloud had has his coma and he's the leader again, go to Tifa's house or in Disc 3 you may go. Play the piano with the ff. notes:X, Square, Triangle, R1+Triangle, R1+Square, Triangle, R1+X, O, X, Square, X Catastrophe for Barrett: (Disc 2) After the train incident when Cid is the leader, talk to the woman in the tent with the dead husband or whatever. She'll give you the limit (this limit is second best but the easiest to get!) Cosmo Memory for Red XIII: (Disc 1 or 2) Go to the Shinra Mansion and find the thing that talks to you. Find the safe and instead of going to all the trouble by finding this and that, simply enter these codes: 36, 10, 59, 97 and the safe should throw open with Odin Materia. Take note that when you skip a number you'll fail and you only have a minute! All Creation for Yuffie: (Disc 1 or 2) Better to do this in Disc 1 so you can also get Leviathan Materia and learn the limit at once since it is only effective in Disc 1 and early Disc 2, not 3 same with Red XIII's. Defeat Godo and everyone in the Pagoda of Wutai and it's the gift. Last Limit for Cait Sith: (Disc 1, 2, 3) This is a pain in the ass! If you want to get this, you'll have to suffer using Cait Sith for the entire game! Kill 954 enemies or whatever with Cait Sith and he'll get the limit if you have the two other. Chaos for Vincent: (Disc 3) Sucks coz the others are already strong on their limits here... Find the waterfall in the circular lake near Nibelheim and Lucrecia should give it to you with Death Penalty. Cid's Highwind: (Disc 2 or 3) Find the Gelnika, sunken airplane in the water somewhere around Gold Saucer and bump it with your sub, have a ribbon here and really high levels coz the enemies' are killers! This is in a chest somewhere in the second room with the ruined helicopter. Beating Emerald: This is a real pain in the ass and it takes so much time to do this. Here's the many requirements in beating weapon: All Strongest Weapons for Characters Catastrophe Omnislash Highwind Final Heaven (If you're planning to use Tifa) Characters at level 90 or higher (Mine are at Level 99!) Full Cure Materia and Life2 or simply Angel Whisper Enemy Skill Big Guard Master Phoenix with Master Final Attack Back-up Phoenix with Final Attack Master Knights of the Round or Level 3 or 4 Tight 9999 HP and lots of MP 150+ Strength 200+ Magic 100+ Spirit 100+ Luck 100+ Vitality 150+ Dexterity Underwater Materia from the Guidebook (Morph the Ghost Ship in the Junon Reactor) Mystile (2 will do) 99 Megalixirs W-Summon W-Magic (Optional) W-Item (Optional) Mime (2 will do) Try not to equip too much Materia on a character, remember Emerald's Aire Tam Storm depends on how many Materia you have... example when you have 5 Materia equipped to Cloud, the Storm does 5555 damage. Your max Materia is only 8 but I suggest only up to 6 or less. Your Mystile helps dodge the powerful attacks and when you have wall and haste with you, you'll be able to keep on pounding on Emerald since he's slow unlike Ultima and Ruby. The wall reduces the damage and with your Mystile and high Dexterity and Luck, your defense % should be about 100+ meaning it's really hard to hit you! Use your limits first (you should make your limits full before fighting) at Emerald while he's still single so you inflict all your damage on him like Cloud's Omnislash, Barrett's Catastrophe and Tifa's 7 Limits. After you do the damage, Weapon should blast any of you but there are more chances of him missing. Cast Big Guard on your party with a character then have the one with W-Summon summon Knights of the Round twice then mime it and mime it again. If your Magic is at a max like 255 or higher, a Knight can do a damage of tight 9999 meaning almost 130,000 HP damage at 1 turn alone! 6 times 130,000 is really devastating and with your earlier limits, Emerald should weaken. What? What id a character dies? Make sure your Mp is still 150+ to be able to summon Phoenix when the character with it dies. If one of you dies, cast Angel's Whisper (same when you want to restore HP) or use the Megalixir (99 anyway!) The best time to use Knights of the Round is when Emerald grows his other parts to destroy those ass-pissers off! You should win easily with 50,000 AP and a lot of EXP. Ruby Weapon: Okay, you should at once get the Master Materia from Ruby and equip them to your characters with some of the requirements above especially your last limits and Knights of the Round. Don't worry, you have infinite Summons now... you just have to keep on W-Summoning it (You should have at least 2 for best) Kill your two buddies first so Ruby will dig its claws in the ground at once without any much trouble and you can cast Phoenix. Pound Ruby with Knights of the Round since its resistant to both physical and elemental magic. Ruby has fewer HP so you can beat him faster, watch out for his whirlsand though! This pisses me off! Best Weapons: (Ultima Weapons) Ultima Weapon for Cloud: (Disc 3) Defeat Ultima Weapon when its already weakened in Cosmo Canyon and you'll get this as a prize. Simple as that... - This attack depends on how Cloud's HP is. The weaker Cloud is, the weaker the damage. Princess Guard for Aeris: (Disc 1) Found behind clock door no. 4. You can't miss it inside a treasure chest. - This is different from the other weapons since this doesn't depend on anything. Premium Heart for Tifa: (Disc 2 or 3) In about the middle of Disc 2, there will be a dumb man who said he lost his dumb key to dumb Sector 5 slums. GO to bone village and dig for normal treasure and dig somewhere in the ruined airplane part and you'll get the key to access Midgar! Go to Wall Market and find the weapon shop where the gatling gun will shoot at Cloud. The weapon is there. - Depends on how high Tifa's limit is, if it reaches about half of it Tifa causes 9999 damage! Missing Score for Barrett: (Disc 2) Before fighting Hojo in the Mako Cannon it's in treasure chest and you can't miss it. (Barrett should be with you or else...) - Depends on Barrett's Materia status if they are missing lots of AP or not... Limited Moon for Red XIII: (Disc 3) GO back to Cosmo Canyon with Red and Bugenhagen will give it to you as his last memento to Red XIII, just like Seto's Seraph Comb. :-] - Depends on Red's HP like Cloud's weapon. Conformer for Yuffie: (Disc 2 or 3) Found in sunken ship Gelnika in a room with the broken helicopter along with Cid's Highwind, the Spirit Lance and Hades Materia and another tiem I forgot. It's in a chets too. - Stronger when Yuffie's level is lower than the enemy's or vice-versa, check for yourself. HP Shout for Cait Sith: (Disc 2) GO back to SHinra Mansion in Disc 2 when you parachute into Midgar. Enter the locker room in floor 64 and just check the lockers. - Depends on Cait Sith's HP like the rest. Death Penalty for Vincent: (Disc 3) In the waterfall near Nibelheim in Disc 3 along with Vincent's last limit. - Stronger if Vincent has killed more enemies, so you need to raise him often if you want this to be strong. Sucks though. Venus Gospel for Cid: (Disc 2) Talk and talk to the old man who agve you Cloud's Yoshiyuki in Disc 1 after the rocket has been launched and your mission fails. - Depends on Cid's HP. *Any other add-ons for the characters?! Any things you want to add? Anything will do as long as it makes sense okay?? -Ultima Weapon-
