I have decided to list all items available in Final Fantasy VIII (I may not be able to complete it, since there are some rare items that are only available through the Pocketstation Game "Chocobo World") The items are organized by type (category) and by alphabetical order in order to make it easier to search through the list. If you wish to contribute anything email me at [vercingetorix@chatpr.com]. Those who contributed to my "Star Ocean 2 Weapons FAQ" KNOW that I enjoy giving credit to contributors (It shows me that there are people who acutally read it) If I add anything that I find I also give credit; if by any chance the person who wrote it does not want me to post it I will remove it as soon as I an notified by him/her. ________________________________________________________________________ ^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ABNORMAL STATUS CONDITIONS: (I added this just to refresh your memory in case you don't remember what each status does) COMMING SOON.... working on it as you read... ;) ________________________________________________________________________ ^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR: Item Refinement/ Rare Item Locations/ Any Items not mentioned in the FAQ With regards to any "Item Refinement" submissions, PLEASE include what type of refinement it falls under (example: Tool Refinement, Tool-RF) ________________________________________________________________________ ^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ITEMS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ RECOVERY ITEMS (Characters only) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ NAME EFFECT Antidote cures Poison Cottage same effect as Tent plus restores all GF (can only be used on World Map or Save Point) Echo Screen cures Silence Elixir fully restore abnormal status and HP Eye Drops cures Darkness Hi-Potion restores HP by 1000 Hi-Potion+ restores HP by 2000 Holy Water cures Zombie, Curse Mega Phoenix removes KO status from all members Mega-Potion restores HO by 1000 to all members Megalixir fully restores abnormal status and HP to all Phoenix Down removes KO status Potion restores HP by 200 Potion+ restores HP by 400 Remedy cures abnormal status Remedy+ cures abnormal status and Magic effects Soft cures petrify Tent fully restores abnormal status and HP to all (can only be used on World Map or Save Point) X-Potion fully restores HP ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BATTLE ITEMS (Inflict damage or raise stats temporarily during battle) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ NAME EFFECT Aura Stone same effect as Aura Death Stone same effect as Death Flare Stone same effect as Flare (!) When you reach the end of the third disc, on the White Seed, you can play the members of the Card Club to regain any rare cards that you lost due to the "Card Mod" ability. After solving the puzzle and getting the Chocobo, use the ChocoSonar to find the spot with the highest frequency. Then use the ChocoZiner to make the Chocobo dig in that spot. It will unearth two or three of these stones. ** With ratios (X:Y) having to do with the "Card Mod" ability, The 1st value "X" is the amount of card(s) needed, and the 2nd "Y" value is the amount of item(s) produced. Simply, the item REQUIRED appears first, and the item PRODUCED appears second in the pair. ** In order to find the items at the Lunatic Pandora, as Laguna patrolling Esthar (DISC 1), you MUST have used the detonator. Click on the switch for the farther boulder first (BIG EXPLOSION) and then click on the switch for the closer one. ALSO, in order to explore the Lunatic Pandora completely (DISC 3) you must board it at the FIRST possible place (Center of Esthar City). Simply use the "Enc-None" ability and be there in less than 5 minutes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ________________________________________________________________________ ^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONTRIBUTIONS: ***** Todd Vollmer --------------> [tvollmer@uswest.net] -- GREAT contributions! Very shabby since I had the inspiration, yet I lacked the written list. I basically wrote it from memory. v1.20 (24-Sept-99) -- Spent all morning writing up a list (of the items which I knew their uses) and finally wrote it down in ".txt" format. It's a small list, yet I hope that through future contributions it will grow. I would ESPECIALLY like information on items that can only be acquired through the Pocketstation Mini-game "Chocobo World", since I am unable to buy a Pocketstation at the moment (no money to visit Japan and all...) v1.30 (24-Sept-99) -- New version, simply because I added all the Modification Items from the "Weapons Monthly" magazine along with a description of most of them (and which weapon they help create). I also spaced out the items a bit to make it easier to read (It was a bit too crowded for my tastes). v1.31 (25-Sept-99) -- Added more GF-related items as well as a few misc. items. Nothing much. v1.35 (26-Sept-99) -- Added more items which I found using the "Card Mod" ability. Still no contributions, yet I hope this will change soon. Added new section: Rare Item Locations, which includes which cards can be modified to get the items or what must be done to obtain them). v1.40 (27-Sept-99) -- More items added, and some... CONTRIBUTIONS! ;) Keep 'em comming! v1.41 (27-Sept-99) -- Got more stuff all of a sudden. v1.55 (27-Sept-99) -- Thanx to a VERY generous contribution by Todd Vollmer, my FAQ has almost doubled in size!) v1.56 (28-Sept-99) -- Added a few item locations (the Mug ability is MUCH more useful than most people think...) -- ALTHOUGH Todd Vollmer added ALOT of items, there is still plenty to fill in, and DON'T FORGET that I also wish to include where to get (or how to make, for that matter) the hard to find items... v1.57 (29-Sept-99) -- Added more item locations (after finishing Disc 2 for the second time). v1.60 (29-Sept-99) -- Added more item locations. Mostly what Card can be modified into what items (kind of time-consuming to go one-by-one on the Card Mod Menu...) v1.65 (30-Sept-99) -- Added a NEW section ---> Item Refinement. Hope it is useful. Also added more Rare Item locations. v1.67 (1-Oct-99) -- Added more item locations and filled up the refinement section with what I knew; the rest is now up to contributors (or my own luck....) ;) v1.70 (1-Oct-99) -- Found more Refinement Options and listed them. Also found a few more Rare Item Locations. v1.71 (2-Oct-99) -- Added items found at Lunatic Pandora and areas in Eshthar. v1.72 (3-Oct-99) -- Fixed some info about the Rare Item Locations. v1.73 (4-Oct-99) -- Added more items to the Rare Item Locations. ________________________________________________________________________ ^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_^*+_ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ DISCLAIMER/COPYRIGHT: This FAQ can be freely distributed, however ONLY in its entirety and with due credit to its author.
