If you want to add anything, mail brwh@ic24.net Q: How do I get the Ragnarok on disc 4? A: Once you are back on the world map, search for a portal (you should see them whilst walking up the huge chain to Ultemicia's Castle, to the left.) Walk into the centre-most portal and you will be transported to the barren land north of the Centra Ruins. You will now have to find a chocobo forest, so keep heading north (on disc 4 it is wise to note that monsters are much deadlier and will approach you nigh on every step, so equip Diablos' Enc-None command.) Once you have entered the forest, make Chocoboy capture a chocobo for you. Now that you have a chocobo to ride, head south, past the Centra Ruins and into the ocean. Paddle through the water until you reach the sandbar by Edea's house. Travel east (across Lenown Plains and Lolesterin Plains) and through a small, thin valley (it is quite hard to see). Carry on heading north, and you will soon approach the Ragnarok. Q: Where is the Queen of Cards on disc 4? A: See 'Where is the Emergency Landing Zone my strategy guide talks about?'. Q: Is there a way to get any GFs I missed earlier on disc 4? A: Yes, you can draw Siren from Tri-Point, Leviathan from Trauma, Carbuncle from Krysta, Pandemona from Red Giant, Cerberus from Gargantua, Alexander from Catoblepas and Eden from Tiamat. Q: Yeah, but what about Doomtrain, Brothers, Bahamut and Diablos? A: Brothers can still be gained from their normal location on the world map. Doomtrain and Diablos can be gained by using items, so all GFs can be obtained on disc 4. Q: Where is the Emergency Landing Zone my strategy guide tells me about? A: Most strategy guides forget to mention that the EMZ is in fact invisible. Just fly to the peninsula beneath Tear's Point and run about. You should eventually run over the EMZ. On disc 4, you will find the Queen of Cards here. Q: My strategy guide tells me I can gain GF Merton from Jumbo Cactuar, but sites tell nothing about GF Merton. What gives? A: That strategy guide (from Playstaion Extreme magazine, it had the words BUSTED across the front) was based upon the Japanese version of FF8, so a lot of translation errors were made, and they translated the spell 'Meltdown' as 'Merton'. This was the only ever walkthrough to mistake a magic for a GF. It seems rather hard to me to mistake the two. Q: I have heard about an Omega Weapon in FF8. Is this true? If so, from where can I fight him? A: Yes, it's true. In Ultemica's castle, have the party you want to fight Omega Weapon stand at the switch point in the Courtyard, then move the other party to a Stairway hall near that leads to the Art Gallery and pull the giant cord. You have now activated a timer, so quickly move this party to the switch point and take control of the other party. You will now want to enter the chapel. Walk into Omega Weapon to fight him. It's a very hard fight, but not really worth the hassle (like Ruby Weapon in FF7) as you only gain a Three Stars and a big certificate. Then again, you can take great pride in the knowledge that you have killed the toughest monster in the game ^_^ Q: To get Doomtrain, I must get 6 Malboro tentacles from fighting Malboros. They used to inhabit Esthar Plains, but I can't find them anymore. Any ideas of where they ran off to? A: Malbaros tend to hide about, and they are very hard to uncover. Just cope with the ridiculous ammount of Mesmerizes you will have to fight and you will eventually fight a Malboro. I suggest you try win the battle because you get more tentacles if you win than you would by mugging it. Also it would be good to note that there are different mosnters on the Esthar Plains after the Lunar Cry has occured. Q: I know that to complete the Obel Lake mystery I must follow the directions of the Red Head, but I'm not finding any treasure. How long is it meant to take? A: It takes a very long time, about 7 minutes on my attempt, so just keep searching. Q: I can't find Occult Fan III. I know I must climb a ladder down from the pier of Fisherman's Horizon and travel to a fisherman, but I don't get my magazine. Why? A: You must do this upon your first visit to FH. Q: This stupid 'Random' rule for Triple Triad is extremely frustrating. Isn't there a way to completely abolish this rule? A: Yup, visit Balamb Town, go to the pier and play a game of cards with a guy fishing (he isn't always here). Once the game has begun, you will find that all the rules have been abolished ;) Q: My strategy guide says to get Occult Fan II, I must buy it from the Esthar book shop. Isn't there a better way than having to splash out 35'000 gil on a magazine? A: Go to Dollet, enter the pub and go upstairs. Challenge the guy near the pool table to a game of cards, and he will lead you to his private room. He will give you several cards if you talk to him, and if you rummage through his magazines, you should find Occult Fan II. Q: How do I get back rare cards that I have lost? A: Open up the menu and select cards. Highlight the card you wish to have back and it will tell you the location and the new owner of the card. Challenge this person to get your card back. Q: Where can I find the Water Stone from the Shumi Village? A: Go into Artisan's house and search the drawers to the left of Artisan. You will find the Water Stone. Q: Since all the cities are closed on disc 4, how do I buy items and get weapon upgrades? A: There are two ways. You could either get GF Tonberry to learn the 'Call Shop' command and use GF Doomtrain's 'Call Junk Shop' command, and buy things from the main menu, or you could go back to the Ragnarok and buy things from CC Joker, who is situated at the bottom of the cockpit lift. Q: Is Disc 4 meant to be scarey? A: Yeah, I thought it got a bit sinister and the game sort of changed it's mood. But this is to make you aware of Ultemicia's reign, as it wasn't really visible in any of the other discs. So yeah, Disc 4 is scarey in it's own little way. >>----------<< More will be added once there are more quirky problems discovered.
