Eiko's Eidolons

Eiko only has half the number of Eidolons than Garnet but they are no less powerful or useful. She also can change the attacks of two of her Eidolons by equipping different accessories. Eiko cannot learn any of the summons Garnet has.

Carbunkle
The Cute Protector

Element:
None
Attack: Ruby light (Default)
Gem to learn: Ruby
Also Appears in: FF5 onwards.

Eiko automatically obtains the ruby upon your first visit to the Iifa tree. Carbuncle is different from other Eidolons as it provides protection rather than attack the enemy. The type of protection depends on certain gems that Eiko equips. Ruby light is the default attack if Eiko isn't wearing any of the following gem. Ruby light casts reflect on the entire party.

Carbuncle's other Special Attacks
Emerald Light (Equip emerald):
Casts Haste and Protect on the whole party.
Diamond Light (Equip diamond): Casts Protect and Vanish on the whole party.
Pearl Light (Equip Pearl): Casts Protect and Shell on the whole party.

Fenrir
Wolf of the Red Moon

Element:
Wind or Earth
Attack: Terrestrial Rage (Default)
Gem to learn: Sapphire
Also appears in: FF6

Eiko automatically starts out with a sapphire equiped when you get her in your party. You can increase the power of Fenrir's attack by synthesising more sapphires or winning them from enemies. Fenrir can also change his attack when Eiko equips a certain accessory. His default attack causes earth damage.

Fenrir's other special attack
Millenial Decay (equip Maiden's Prayer): Causes wind damage to all enemies.

Phoenix
The Eidolon that Rises from the Ashes

Element: Fire
Attack: Rebirth Flame
Gem to learn: Phoenix pinion
Also appears in: FF5 onwards

You can actually obtain phoenix pinions throughout the game and hopefully you haven't used all of them before Eiko joins your party as she can equip the phoenix pinion to learn the summon. Phoenix doesn't have an attack as strong as Ifrit but Phoenix casts Full Life on the entire party making it useful for boss battles. There is also a chance that Eiko will automatically summon phoenix if she is the last person to be KO'd in the party. The animation for this sequence is different from the normal one and is quite beautiful. The chances of this happening increases with the number of Phoenix pinions in your inventory.

Madeen
The Eidolon of Hope

Element:
Holy
Attack: Terra Homing
Gem to learn: Ribbon
Also appears in: Debut appearance in FF9

Eiko automatically obtains the Ribbon at the Gulgu Volcano on disc 3. Madeen is Eiko's ultimate summon and unlike Garnets, it's not a secret summon. You need not gather more ribbons to boose Madeen's power as he is already at full power. He is in my opinion one of the most useful summons as most of the enemies late in the game are weak to holy attacks.
