Garnet's Eidolons

For the entirety of the first disc, Garnet cannot summon. When you go into her menu, you'll find her initial summons cost ridiculous amounts of MP. However she regains this ability early on in disc 2 but is restricted to only one summon. She won't be able to learn the rest until disc 3. Garnet overall has eight summons.

Shiva
The Original Ice Goddess

Element: Ice
Attack: Diamond Dust
Gem to learn: Opal
Also appears in: FF3 onwards

In order to obtain Shiva, on disc 3, Dr Tot will give Garnet a number of different gems. The opal is one of these gems. More opals can be synthesised at Danguerro or won from battles with enemies that are of the ice element. The more opals you have in your inventory the more powerful Shiva's attack becomes.

Ifrit
Flame Demon of Hell

Element:
Fire
Attack: Flames of Hell
Gem to learn: Topaz
Also appears in: FF3 onwards

To get Ifrit, on disc 3, Dr Tot will give Garnet a number of different gems. The topaz is one of these gems. More Topaz's can be obtained by synthesising them at Danguerro or won from enemies that have a fire elemental. The more topaz you have in your inventory, the more powerful Ifrits attack becomes.

Ramuh
Wise God of Lightning

Element: Lightning
Attack: Judgement Bolt
Gem to learn: Peridot
Also appears in: FF3 onwards

On disc 2 at Pinnacle Rocks, Garnet will speak to Ramuh in order to gain him as an ally. Ramuh tells her she must find the pieces of a story hidden around Pinnacle Rocks. Once they are found, you have to piece the story together and Ramuh will transform into a peridot for Garnet to take. More Peridot's can be otained by synthesising them and can be won from enemies. The more Peridot you have, the more powerful Ramuh's attack will become.

Atomos
Mr VERY Big-mouth

Element: Gravity
Attack: G-Force 199
Gem to learn: Amethyst
Also appears in: Final Fantasy 5 as a boss

To get Atomos, on disc 3, Dr Tot will give Garnet a number of different gems. The Amethyst is one of these gems. More Amethyst can be obtained by synthesising them at Danguerro or won from enemies. Atomos damages enemies by a certain percentage of an enemy's max HP. The percentage of HP he takes off is determined by the number of Amethysts you have in your inventory.

Leviathan
Serpent of the Endless Ocean

Element: Water
Attack: Tsunami
Gem to learn: Aquamarine
Also appears in: FF4 onwards.

You will automaticallly obtain the Aquamarine after Garnet prays to the statue at the Iifa tree at the end of disc 2. The more aquamarine you have in your inventory the more damaging his attack becomes. Aquamarine can be synthesised at Danguerro or won from enemies.

Odin
King of the Gods

Element:
None
Attack: Zantetsuken
Gem to learn: Dark matter
Also appears in: FF4 onwards

You can obtain the Dark matter by bidding for it at the Treno Auction on disc 3. You can also steal it from the optional boss, Ozma. Odin's attack does not damage the enemy per se but it has a chance of instantly killing all enemies (bosses not included) but at times it will miss some enemies. In order to increase to the chance of an instant kill you must find Lapis Lazuli. It can be found all over the place and synthesised at Danguerro (hell EVERYTHING you need can be synthesised at Danguerro). You can also modify Odin's attack slightly. If you equip Garnet with the Maiden's Prayer, odin will kick up a wind attack that will cause damage to the enemies if he's not successful with the Zantetsuken.

Bahamut
King of the Dragons

Element:
None
Attack: Mega Flare
Gem to learn: Garnet
Also appears in: FF1 onwards

Bahamut is obtained automatically after Beatrix gives Dagger the garnet gem on disc 3. More garnet gems can be synthesised at Danguerro and as far as I know this is the only way to obtain them. The more garnet gems you have in your inventory, the more powerful Bahamut's attack becomes. Also keep an eye out for him in one of the best FMV's in FF9 ;).

Ark
The Airship of Doom

Element:
Darkness
Attack: Eternal Darkness
Gem to learn: Pumice
Also Appears in: Debut appearance in FF9

To obtain this Eidolon, you can either synthesise two pumice pieces into a pumice on disc 4 at the Ultimate Sythesis shop in Memorias or you can bite the bullet and try to defeat Ozma in Disc 3 or 4 to win a pumice. Either way you only need one Pumice for Ark to be at full power. Ark has the longest summon animation and the highest damage out of ALL the Eidolons.
