Final Fantasy Mythology

Norse: a.k.a Othinn, Wodan and Wotan

Odin is the chief divinity of the Norse pantheon, the foremost of the Aesir. He is a son of Bor and Bestla. He is also known as Alfadir and Allfather, for he is the father of the gods. He fathered Balder, Hod and Hermod when he consorted with Frigg. He fathered Thor with the Goddess Jord; and Vidar with the giantess Grid.

Odin is known as the god of war and death, but also the god of poetry and wisdom. He holds a spear, called Gungnir, that never misses, a ring called Draupnir, from which on every ninth night, eight new rings will appear. Then there is his eight-footed steed Sleipnir. Odin is often accompanied by two wolves, Freki and Geri, to which he gives food as Odin himself drinks nothing but wine. He only has one eye, the other he traded for a drink from the well of wisdom from which he gained great knowledge.

Odin his throne Hlidskjalf resides in the hall Valaskjalf (‘shelf of the slain’) in Asgard (‘home of the gods’). From this throne he can observe all that happens in the nine worlds. Tidings are brought to him by two Raven called, Huginn and Muninn.

Stories

He hung for nine days, pierced by his own spear, on the world tree. Here he learned nine powerful songs, and eighteen runes. Odin can make the dead speak to question the wisest amongst them.

On the day of the final battle (Ragnarok), Odin will be killed by the wolf Fenrir.

Final Fantasy 8
Odin is an Non-Elemental Guardian Force. He appears randomly in battle depending on your Luck. Kills all enemies (except bosses) with one strike. He rides and 6 legged horse, carries a sword or spear and is clad in armour like a warrior.
