Peter Pan - James Matthew Barrie:
In 1860 James Matthew Barrie was born in Kirriemuir, Scotland. He found his greatest successes as a playwright and played cricket on the same team as famous Sherlock Holmes author Conan Doyle. Barrie also befriended a couple by the name Arthur and Sylvia Llewellyn Davies and when the couple died they entrusted care of their sons Peter, John, Michael, Nicholas, and Arthur to him. Although Barrie was both a successful journalist and playwright, his most well known work was Peter Pan, published in 1094.

The Little Mermaid - Hans Christian Anderson:
Hans Christian Anderson, Denmark's most famous author, was born on April 2nd 1805 in the slums of Odense. Before his death on August 4th, 1875 he had written over 350 enchanting tales. Because his own childhood was extremely unhappy, he wrote with the desire to make sure other children's lives were full of laughter. Through his writing, Anderson found fulfillment. Denmark's people celebrate his birthday with a party called "Odin Story Day".

The Nightmare Before Christmas - Tim Burton

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh - A.A.Milne

Bambi - Felix Salten:
Felix Salten, an Austrian author, wrote the original story of Bambi in 1923. His inspiration was the wildlife of the Alps, which he witnessed while on vacation there. The story was published in Vienna in 1926 under the name of "Bambi, a Life in the Woods." (Bambi, en Leben im Walde in Salten's native tongue, Italian). Bambi's name was taken from the Italian word for baby, bambino. Two years after it's publication it was translated into English. Salten attended the European premier of the Disney adaptation in 1942.

101 Dalmatians - Dodie Smith

Pinocchio - Carlo Lorenzini

Tarzan - Edgar Rice Burroughs
